Usyk did exactly what I expected. Taking his time, getting a few HW rounds under his belt, and winning in the second half of the fight - which in turn won me money at 8:1 for a stoppage in rounds 7 or 8

I think he should fight Hughie Fury next. he would get much more rounds, probably 12 and he must beat Hughie if he wants something in division.

Great fighters don't look great in mediocre fights. Remember Holyfield vs Czyz, which was one fight before the KO of Tyson. Usyk will look great if he can get Wilder next, of course Wilder and Haymon know Usyk will beat Wilder so they will duck and discredit Usyk.

This is exactly why you usyk superfans are eating crow today. Usyk ackward style high ring IQ was neutralized by weight and power advantage. That's normal logic.

So when he fights a taller, bigger, more athletic fighter like wilder....

Wilder has to fight Ortiz, fury, aj next. Usyk should fight Ortiz after wilder. Hell I would take the guy fury just fought recently. Guys with one punch ko power.

Usyk - Ortiz would be good but I think Luis might retire on this one.

                Don't be a hater.
He should come out to Human League's "Human", and fight Schwarz and Wallin.

If this fight doesn't make you appreciate Tyson Fury all that much more than you aren't a Boxing fan, and probably never can be.

Look, there's a reason the Cruiserweight Division exists, and a reason Usyk staked his claim there. Size matters. It can even become a detriment. See how Lomachenko suddenly stopped chasing every record possible: why hasn't he claimed a Junior Welterweight title? Especially now that the division is void of viable threats, like Crawford and Garcia. Even those guys Loma probably would have beaten. But his decision to focus on unifying the Lightweight titles to become the first champion is a crystal-clear indication that he knows his limits. That 5 extra pounds could really slow him down, and cost him some of his essential conditioning. A bigger man can better impose himself on a smaller Lomachenko, but also has a better chance of succeeding against a heavier Lomachenko because of deleterious affect the added weight would have on his skill.

                  Weight can be a deficit.

That being said, there's also room to be made for adjustments. Fighters can adapt to the added weight, and make tweaks to their style to adapt to the added weight. I believe that will be the case with Usyk.

Against Wilder - who isn't too much bigger - he doesn't need to enter much bigger, if at all, than he did for his Cruiserweight fights. But he will need the added size against guys like Ruiz and Joshua.

Life's a lot tougher now that PED's have been almost completely removed from the equation. In the 90's, Usyk would've cleaned house.

I've been really hoping to see Usyk sit down on his punches.
                  Pre-VADA Boxing was abeautfiul thing.

i thought usyk looked good... he moved, was accurate, but the one problem i saw was a lack of power at hW

Wilder is taller and heavier, but not more athletic. He is much more explosive, but that's the limit to his athletic advantage. That same genetic set, also makes fighters chinnier and b i t c h out faster.

Wilder is Usyk's most ideal opponent. For over one hundred and 20 years of pro-Boxing, we've seen harder hitting opponents get creamed by lighter hitting opponents with more skill: McGovern-Gans, Ali-Foreman, Quarry-Shavers, Leonard-Hearns,Leonard-Tendler, McCallum-jackson, ruiz-joshua.

Usyk needs his mobility, volume and technical proficiency to beat Wilder. Even if that means giving up size to maintain it. 300 years of breeding ain't mistaken: Wilder is built to work hard, then quit when told to. Usyk doesn't need size to say it.
