Still amazed at them leaking this to the press and trying to figure out how they thought this was going to be a good idea. Like do they think boxing forums and twitter is an actual representation of the paying fan base and that getting them all riled up for ggg would create a groundswell forcing Canelo's hand? When look at viewership numbers or gates these fans do not show up.
Or how could they not talk to Canelo and see how he sees his career and what fights he would like to have going forward sometime between the start of negotiating a 5 year 10 fight 350 million dollar deal and April when they signed GGG?
Canelo makes it clear he wants to fight Kov a marketable fight after just having a competitive marketable fight and they are trying to **** talk that to create a fight with a guy that fought my uber driver?
Still don't get why Canelo has not sent his lawyers after this deal to get out of it as it is pretty clear DAZN does not value him and the 600k subscribers he brings as much as ggg and the 50k subscribers he brings.Comment

Calling Markowski a moron is like somebody the other day calling Usyk a bum. Its baseless, meaninless weak call really. No return? Lol. Why do you casuals follow a script just because others write it?
DAZN is daily metrics based. The machine sees how viewers watch content on a daily basis.
And regarding Markowski... as much as a dork he may seem, he brought together KSI Paul from YouTube metric success. Smart move. YouTube teens get hit with a splice of boxing. It’s a win for boxing! DaNeutral.
They have spent alot of money as all start up businesses do and you cant honestly judge them on its 1st year. But the stable has been nicely built, have a couple of the biggest stars and is clearly providing good content and value for money. There is plenty of positivity from American Boxing fans, a little negativity but the fake hate to push a pro something American narrative can be easily sniffed out and separated from honest opinion.Comment

Once again, people want(ed) haymon to fail because his success is not in keeping with racial hierarchy. If haymon does it, tear it down. If Hearn does it, build it up. That’s privilege, that’s entitlement of a system long designed to prop up one tribe and hold on to power. My people saw the business end of thay with Krystalnacht to begin with and then mass murder and redistribution of our wealth. The methodology may have changed, the target group may have changed, but the premise is exactly the same and was conceived centuries before you and I were born. There’s nothing new under the sun....When Haymon was paying fighters "too much" for not great fights, it was seen as the death of boxing. When Hearn pays guys "too much" money for not great fights, its called an investment in the future of how boxing will be shown. I don't understand how DAZN is sustainable and PBC isn't.
I am just really interested in seeing if DAZN gets a major US sport how that changes boxing programming.Comment

Dazn
Has to slow down its roll...focus more on American fighters
Hearn needs to be replaced...He is a arrogant mook
That doesnt fly in the land of the free...We have no royalty here.
Imagine putting Oscar in charge of Sky boxing in Britain..that is equally ******
Oh well Dazn has made its bed

Google, Facebook, Microsoft, Apple all were profitable before their IPO. The companies that continue to burn money tend to fail.
DAZN has no path to profitability in the US and never had a plan for all this money they are spending. They have 1 star that moves the subscriber numbers otherwise every other fight does under 6 figure same day viewing. They gave Dervy 5 million dollars for a total cash outlay of 12 million for last weekend and they barely bothered to promote the fight. This is a fight they created in order to try to boss their only subscriber driver.Comment

The start of this comment was going well. Yes, there is a racial hierarchy in place. Yes, Caucasian society does have a problem with financially successful people of colour; one only has to look at the differences in the way the media establishment treats articles about Anglo Saxon sportspeople with their BAME equivalents (footballers/soccer players spring to mind).
.....And then you attempted to compare fanboys having some baffling rivalry over their preferred promoters to **** Germany’s ransacking of ***ish business aka the beginnings of the ACTUAL HOLOCAUST with no irony!
Serious question: Are you on crack and if so is it worth it?Comment

No it isn’t, not as it has been operating. The interesting thing is, however, is how they will fare with reduced budget for purses and contracts....and if they are going to be able to attract big names without the big purses since they were unable to do so in the first placeGoogle, Facebook, Microsoft, Apple all were profitable before their IPO. The companies that continue to burn money tend to fail.

I wasn’t defending their business model. Just a happy customer here. Its great for fans because they are selling you 450 dollars (15 HBO 10 Showtime and two 75 PPV) for 100. But it is not a sustainable model. To keep this price level with their current costs they need to massively grow the subscriber base. But, there is just little evidence that there is a huge secret boxing fanbase. Outside of the Mayweather Pac and Mac fights there has not been a fight on Cable or PPV to cross 2.5 million in nearly 20 years. HBO is in 45 million households and offers newish movies along with mega shows like GoT and Sopranos.
Even worse for them is that their costs are insane. They paid out 12 million in cash this past weekend for a fight that HBO might have budgeted 2 million in the best of days.
They also don't have a natural path for promoting their products. They have to spend out of pocket to advertise and market unlike a Fox that can use internal programing to promote their product. This is always going to cap their growth potential.Comment
