Paying Jacobs at least $23 million and then $30million+ for 2 GGG fights is bad business no matter how you try and flip it. And they still owe GGG like $60 million and he’s damaged goods???

You'd think with all that money on the table Jacobs would have at least let his hand go. Maybe even go for the KO against the smaller Alvarez.

I was very skeptical of DAZN when I signed up. I've never been disappointed and all of my concerns proved to be incorrect. They have a customer for life.

I also watch Top Rank and PBC religiously. I love the sport, don't care about the platform.

Markowski is a moron and his days at DAZN are numbered along with his boss say industry insiders. Not a big surprise when they are paying astronomical numbers and no return to show for it..

We just recently learned how GGG gets paid. He gets half cash upfront. The rest is equity. Meaning that GGG will cash the remaining after all his fights are done. DAZN was smart with this move. $100mil was just publicity. Others stars like AJ and Canelo get it upfront.

No return? Lol. Why do you casuals follow a script just because others write it?

DAZN is daily metrics based. The machine sees how viewers watch content on a daily basis.

And regarding Markowski... as much as a dork he may seem, he brought together KSI Paul from YouTube metric success. Smart move. YouTube teens get hit with a splice of boxing. It’s a win for boxing! DaNeutral.

DAZN sure has a huge amount of money to just throw away, when thee are only so few big fights that can be made. Some good fights will never happen because if different networks, promoters, etc. Golovkin already looks quite worn out to have more than two or three fights at a high level. Canelo has about five or six decent opponents he could fight.

When Haymon was paying fighters "too much" for not great fights, it was seen as the death of boxing. When Hearn pays guys "too much" money for not great fights, its called an investment in the future of how boxing will be shown. I don't understand how DAZN is sustainable and PBC isn't.

I am just really interested in seeing if DAZN gets a major US sport how that changes boxing programming.

Its great for fans because they are selling you 450 dollars (15 HBO 10 Showtime and two 75 PPV) for 100. But it is not a sustainable model. To keep this price level with their current costs they need to massively grow the subscriber base. But, there is just little evidence that there is a huge secret boxing fanbase. Outside of the Mayweather Pac and Mac fights there has not been a fight on Cable or PPV to cross 2.5 million in nearly 20 years. HBO is in 45 million households and offers newish movies along with mega shows like GoT and Sopranos.

Even worse for them is that their costs are insane. They paid out 12 million in cash this past weekend for a fight that HBO might have budgeted 2 million in the best of days.

They also don't have a natural path for promoting their products. They have to spend out of pocket to advertise and market unlike a Fox that can use internal programing to promote their product. This is always going to cap their growth potential.
