Having said that, Haye put a lot of trash on PPV circa 2008-2012. Enjoyed watching him but serious charlatan.Comment

Went completely off on a tangent there but yeah PPV has been poor in this country for years, we simply don’t attract/produce the stars or talents that the Americans do. Hearn has been very clever in exploiting the casual fan base and deluding them into believing they are paying for a premium product when in reality a fight like Whyte-Rivas wouldn’t even main event a premium cable card in the USA never mind be a PPV main event.Comment

Haye has been so influential in British boxing over the last 10-15 years. Sky ostensibly removed boxing from their product portfolio due to Haye’s PPV fiascos against Audley and Wlad. That forced Warren to abdicate his position as lead promoter on Sky and create Boxnation to fulfil his commitments to his stable. Sky now had a competitor in the market so needed to re-invest in boxing and due to the well publicised personal troubles of Hatton and Maloney, Matchroom/Hearn was left as the only viable option. You could make a convincing argument the rise of Hearn and decline of Warren where caused by David Haye.

I never knew all of that! Highly informative.
True, he’s shook up boxing in this country by appealing to the ‘casual demographic’ but I don’t think the U.S. is any great shake for producing great boxers in recent times either - proportionately speaking; obviously it’s a far bigger country with a bigger population and therefore more talent.
A significant portion of American boxers these days appear to be former High School ball players who switched to boxing in late teens with no serious amateur pedigree to speak of (a generalisation, I know).
Obviously there are some tremendous exceptions to this but - to be honest - boxing’s what most take up when they have fewer options in life and you can make mega money if you make the grade with another sport so maybe there’s just a smaller pool of talent now.Comment

Price can **** and Chisora can get caught; could be an upset, though I wouldn’t put my house on it.Comment

The decline in US Stars comes from the decline in their amateur system IMO. Throughout the 2000’s they’ve placed far less focus on the amateur system than they did throughout the 70’s, 80’s, 90,s, and the more talented guys just turn pro immediately to try and make $. If you look at guys like SRL, Roy, Oscar, Mayweather etc they all went through that amateur system.Comment

The Takam stoppage kinda sums up my point, he broke him down then dropped and stopped him.
He’ll pressure Price until he fades, then will stop him IMO.Comment
