Hmm. I scored GGG/Derevyanchenko.

I can’t really dispute any particular round because most were back and forth rounds, hard to determine who deserved the 10 more. I had the same overall score as you but we scored the individual rounds very differently.

Which just backs up what I'm saying. No matter who you scored rounds for, it was CLOSE. People are making it out like Sergiy was dominant when he really wasn't OVER 12 ROUNDS. He was early, after that it was a chess match.

        Green for that

I'm usually pretty against fan score cards because who gives a **** what fans think, it's the judge's mindset that matters, but, this was well done, respectable, and interesting. Nicely done fella.

Regarding # of rounds. This wasn't that kind of fight. I've got it a draw without the KD. With the number of swing rounds I can easily support someone feeling that Sergiy won close. Under no situation do I see this dominant performance that certain others are alluding to that warrants a call for robbery.

You want a robbery? Barrios/Akhmedov was a robbery.

Great OP, what a change from the unsubstantiated 'he was robbed' posts that appear here after every main fight. Bloody attention seeking, ignorant casuals and fan boys who spew their rubbish every time.

Good post/breakdown and insights...especially about the fighting style...interestingly after the fight (and apparently during) Banks said he wanted GGG to throw the jab...I'm wondering if GGG didn't want to go jab heavy that night because of the criticism he received against Canelo where some said all he had was the jab.

In any event...yes it was a good fight, tough to score...I felt SD was the better man but you have some good insights here too that I will watch for on a re-watch...I do feel GGG took round 2 due to the big cut he opened up, winning that round on damage done primarily through that cut.

But even that round was hard to say 100% for one guy...I gave GGG 1,2,4,6,9,11...but again hardly any rounds besides 1,2,5,10,11 were very clear for me...just very competitive action...SD's workrate vs GGG big shots was the story of most rounds.

If G had used the jab it wouldn't have made a difference. Jacobs had a very effective jab and it didn't do him any good either.

Beating Sergiy meant two things. First, what Golovkin started doing in the later rounds he needed to do all fight, which is time him coming in with a shot and force him to smother himself, guard the body the entire time.

Second, don't let him get off first, walk him back stalker style which is how he fought so many other guys effectively. Make Sergiy respect that you're the stronger guy even if you're not the absolutely bigger guy. That takes pressure. But you have to do it to nullify Sergiy's workrate. Otherwise it looks like you're not doing anything to the judges.

Golovkin has been dominant for so long, people get a little bit giddy and carried away when he faces some adversity.
I agree also. And the commentators did mention that Golovkin had flu-like symptoms earlier in the week.

I don't know how the hell that was ruled a head butt. I never saw a single one all night.

Idk man...I think GGG has basically won/controlled all of his big fights behind the jab...it creates distance for him and put his opponent on the back foot...it's not just a range finder, but a solid punch, so no one can walk through it...if he is finding someone with that jab...it just puts him in complete control imo.

I think it would have been a big weapon vs SD, to slow him down and back him up...control the distance and pace of the fight...first time ever I saw someone dictate pace to GGG for extended periods of the fight.

Right...that one clip is clear as day to me...I watched the fight on mute live and when I scored it...when I found out after, I couldn't believe they said it was a headbutt...I was going to comment during the fight that there would be a lot of controversy if they stopped it late due to the cut...but apparently that would have ruled it a NC? Just crazy imo
