Yes, Sergey was better against worse/older version of Gennady.

It would be easier to say Canelo and Serg were successful in different ways. Canelo with precision timing and clean hard counterpunching in the rematch that had Golovkin on the retreat much of the time without a smothering volume of output; Sergiy by a big dumb swing for the fences wherein he didn't allow a visibly diminished, underperforming GGG--whether by bad oysters or old age at last--to get his usual word in. Canelo certainly looked slicker and more refined in his (second) effort and arguably against a superior version of Golovkin. Actually it would appear that I'm straight up disagreeing. At the very least, I wouldn't say Sergiy did "better" per se. It largely comes down to what you like to see.

I thinks it’s very obvious that SD did much better against GGG than Canelo, anyone arguing otherwise is deluding themselves. Majority of people actually think SD beat GGG, while majority of people believed GGG actually beat Canelo.

well, I think D deserved the win more than Canelo, which to my eyes, lost both fights. Everyone knows and hate Canelo for that except a few NSB luminaries.

both close fights, but ggg really looked shot last night, on his fights vs canelo he still was looking good... the second canelo fight more than anything took a lot from ggg, and im not even talking about the face damage, but the body punches, ggg showed great conditioning in that fight the way he absorved punishment, his conditioning last night was ****t...
last night was a clear case when a fighter gets shot overnight, not the same ggg anymore...

Because Canelo is more defensive whereas Derechenko commits more to offense so he got caught early. And early knockdowns are more forgivable.

Sergi was more convincing than Canelo. He gave as much as he took and really put a hurting on GG. Canelo in 24 rounds never came close to putting GG in real danger.

Sergi probably beats Canelo too in a perfect world.

Based on what? Are you implying that Canelo softened GG up for Sergi?

Canelo fought the same GG imo

Had both Canelo (Rematch) and Derevyanchenko winning 7-5. Only difference is that Canelo didn't get KD so I had him winning by a point more than I had Derevyanchenko winning.

Golovkin against top level competition is always in good, exciting and competitive fights. Good stuff.
