I just still don't understand why GGG hasn't fought at 168-175 for years.

Look at the muscle definition, destruction, when he's draining. You guys really want to believe HBO's unofficial scale?

A proper GGG at 168-175 looks RIPPED and healthy to fight!

Aesthetically he looks great but how useful is that extra muscle in the ring?
Could well be a Bruno/Joshua type situation.

Not much difference, but he needs to fix his posture though.

That's kyphosis. Most boxers have to some degree due to amount of time they spend in the guard position. Golovkin's looks pretty severe though.

I didnt realize he was fighting at 164. What is even the purpose of that?

He just didnt want to cut 4 extra pounds? Hes really that lazy?

He fought Rolls at 164 cos Rolls was coming from 168... and yeah, probably cos he didn't want to have to do a full cut for what was basically a tune up. Tonight's fight is at 160.

                Hmm,

didnt realize Rolls was at 164 too, thinking about it though there was no real draw to fighting rolls himself, GGG could have equally fought a cab driver at 160, or fought Rolls at 168 being he was such a weak opponent. Draining a nobody 168 pounder to 164 really just seems that GGG is no longer willing to cut to 160 for anybody but a top level opponent.

Not a good sign imo, hes got one foot out the door to retirement. Easy fights and easy weight cuts.

The point is GGG should have been at 168. At 175 GGG has to make choices like Canelo. Doesn't mean GGG or Canelo are going to doing bench presses like Curtis Stevens or Jean Pascal to stay swolle

Yeah. Can't see much sense in the 164 for that, myself. Could have just done it at the full 168... Golovkin comes to ring 170+ anyway... less Rolls camp were saying he'd struggle to make MW, in which case why not just pick a C list MW?

But yeah, no doubt GGGs closing on retirement, kinda shame he passed on a coupla decent fights pursuing the Canelo payday, though it's hard to blame the dude. Only positive sign is that he's got a financial stake in the success of DAZN now (half his pay for this fight is in equity and he may already be a stakeholder) so he's got a pretty good motive to take better fights from here in. Here's hoping.
