Comments Thread For: Claressa Shields vs. Ivana Habazin: WBC Title Now Also at Stake

The stakes have been raised even further for this Saturday's (October 5) "Homecoming for Herstory" showdown between Flint's own female boxing superstar Claressa Shields and former world champion Ivana Habazin, now that the WBC has also agreed to sanction the bout for their vacant women's super welterweight championship.

Shields and Taylor both moving in opposite directions to try and get a super-fight with Braekus in the middle... who's going to win that race? My moneys on Shields as Taylor's attention is split between 2 super-fights; Serrano as well as Braekus.

She's not only trying to become the fastest person to win 3 divisional titles, she'll be a UNIFIED champion in 3 divisions if she wins.

        Super middleweight: WBC/IBF
        Middleweight: WBC/WBA/IBF/WBO/Ring
        Super welterweight: WBC/WBO

I still think Braekhus is the best in the world but there's no denying how impressive Shields has been.

I agree with this. I like every woman fighter. There isn’t one female that I hate. Women fight hard to prove a point that they belong and they have always belonged in the sport.

Another ****ing mismatch , more chance of travelling to the moon in a hot air ballon than habizan even competing with shields , let alone beating her ..

Braekhus may have signed with Matchroom though, would tip things strongly in Taylors direction

This won’t even be the best fight

The fight to see is and always will be the Jarico O’quinn Vs Little Red it’s all about the Pride in the city. We haven’t had this since Bernard Harris beat John Walker where the loser had to move out of the state; need I say John has been living in Florida since to my knowledge. Represent your city!

Not heard about that, cheers. Taylor could be in for a big year or 2 if she gets both Serrano, Braekhus super-fights and rematches Persoon. If she does and wins them all, she'll definitely match Hearn's billing as the best female boxer p4p over Shields.

Do women lose punch resistance when they move down in weight like men often do. Been wondering that, but idk if our bodies are different enough where this is less of an issue with women then it is with men since women usually got a higher fat % & it stands to reason could end up being less impacted by weight loss.
