Fox undoubtedly had more money in its budget for this fight than Showtime did.

Remember that Showtime nearly bankrupt their entire yearly budget with that eight figure payday they gave Deontay Wilder earlier in the year for fighting Dominic Breazeale. It was a sacrifice. Chances are, Stephen Espinoza had probably gone to the executives at CBS in order to increase his budget so he can land that fight to pay Deontay Wilder by keeping him off DAZN.
LMAO. Look at the excuses, lol.

They don't need a big budget for a PPV fight. All they have to do is guarantee Wilder $2million and $500k for Ortiz like FOX did with Porter vs Spence and Canelo vs GGG and recoup the money back from PPV and tickets sales. And with 150k PPV buys, they should make their money back.

However, they know Wilder isn't a big draw and there's no buzz for the fight, hence they passed on it. It's not profitable at all and they already took a big loss on Wilder in May, while banking on getting the AJ fight. But since the AJ isn't happening anymore, there's no point pouring water into a basket. They run a business - not a charity organisation, lol. Wilder isn't just a draw and they lost almost $5m on him in May when they cut him a cheque of $5m (not $20m). LMAO.

        100%

LMAO. Guaranteed money - he’ll get that money even if AJ’s value plummeted to ground zero.

He’s gonna 35 next year and there’s no way he can ever make close to that money again unless AJ keeps winning and does him a favour, lol.

Even if Wilder had taken DAZN money of a $120 mil. Joshua still would have gotten knocked the fuck out by Andy Ruiz anyhow! So there was no guarantee that the fight was going to happen anyway. Besides, Ruiz just may steam roll past him again in December in their rematch.
