I’ve watched that fight about 10 times now. I reject the idea that the fight was as close as some people have mentioned. By the 4th round the fight was even, and by the sixth, Spence was fighting like a man possessed. Body shots and a sneaky shot to the face in the 7th that I believe started the orbital damage.
Spence knew this was new territory and he stayed composed, kept the jab going, and mixed up his pressuring attack.
By the 8-9th round, eye or no eye issue, I believe Spence would eventually get him out. Reason being, Brook was obviously feeling the eye and started to back pedal. Spence had to chase and cut the ring off for 3-4 rounds before the stoppage.
If Brooks eye wasn’t an issue, he likely would’ve stayed toe to toe with Spence and that would’ve been worse for Brook. Just my 2cents
