Comments Thread For: Porter: Odds On Spence Fight Don't Consider What I've Done

Shawn Porter isn't offended by the one-sided odds on his welterweight championship showdown with Errol Spence Jr. Most Internet and Las Vegas sports books list Spence as at least a 10-1 favorite over Porter in their 147-pound title unification fight September 28 at Staples Center in Los Angeles. Porter discussed during a conference call Tuesday his perspective on Spence being such a heavy favorite entering their FOX Sports Pay-Per-View main event.

I had never realized that Shawn Porter had hired Don King's barber.

      They do consider them.

They consider that Porter has two losses. One to a fighter that Spence beat. They consider that Porter almost got stopped by Adrian Granados in the 12th round and that he barely got by Yordenis Ugas.

You combine that with Spence looking practically flawless thus far in his career and it's not hard to see why they have him as a huge favorite.

Oddsmakers aren't dumb. They do a ton of research and are usually right.

I was expecting Spence to say "there's two ways to beat him".

But your last point. Joshua / Ruiz, they got it WAY wrong.

Sometimes they are, but they're usually right.
