Comments Thread For: Kovalev: I've Recharged My Batteries For Canelo Fight

Sergey Kovalev acknowledges that this quick turnaround isn't ideal. The WBO light heavyweight champion is scheduled to face Canelo Alvarez only 10 weeks after a grueling fight against Anthony Yarde. The 36-year-old Kovalev would've preferred more time to recuperate from that fight and the taxing training camp that preceded it.

That's right. You bring your A-game Kovalev because you are going to need it.

Team Canelo believes that you are finished and a shot fighter whose best days are now behind him. Which is the reason why they are taking this fight.

They believe that you no longer pose a serious threat, risk or challenge to them at this time.

This is a 50/50 fight in my book. Like others have already said, it's Kovalev's jab vs Canelo's head movement.

Canelo won't be able to dodge 100% of the jabs. Kovalev scored knockdowns against Pascal and Ward two guys that either have the chin or skill to avoid going down. How will Canelo handle that type of power?? The knock down in the first Ward fight says a lot about the type of power Kovalev can unleash.

If Canelo can absorb the early onslaught, he could catch Kovalev late with enough body punches to take him out. That's a big if!!!! Both have questionable endurance, so it might be down to who will gas out first.

You guys are living off nostalgia
That Kovi is long fughin gone and he ain’t coming back
The Ward or Pascal fights was a long time ago my friend
Everyone talking about his jab but before the Yarde fight nobody even whispered about it
Then again it looked good against who ; Anthony fughin Yarde
          What has he done lately
Everybody praising the young lion who hasn’t beaten anyone , then praising Kovi and his jab
          What a fughin joke
The fight of stamina , wasn’t sure who would gas out first but I did know that whoever that was would lose the fight
Please stop comparing Yarde to Canelo , it’s insulting as a boxing fan , and I ain’t no Canelo nuthugger

Mulako i agree with everything you said. Canelo isnt no Yared by a long shot. When is the last time you have seen Canelo get hit cleanly several times in a fight ? This is going to be interesting watching Kovalev and how he handles canelo out quicking him and making him miss often then countering with quick hard shots.

First 4-6 rounds of this fight will be interesting, aslong as canelo gets through them fairly unscathed he will stop kov late on by breaking down the body. Canelos defense and speed will be his advantages.. but we shall see if Kovs power unsettles canelo cuz Kov WILL land... esp with that jab

I really really believe Canelo will bully the bigger fighter
What I’m sure of is Kovi will not handle the body assault of Canelo
Ffs he was cringing ( I think it was 3 or 4th round ) when Yarde gave him a few shots to the midsection
Not sure why he didn’t continue but most of Yarde’s success in the 8th was from ****ing the body

Also Kovalev is tough but he has not dog in him too. I mean he is a frontrunner who will look for a place to quit if it gets really hot on the inside . He did this in the 2nd Ward fight. Canelo is quick and will hit him often from angles at the mid range and on the inside.

Imo , this is called a cash out
He’s gonna need it with all his court dates etc etc etc
Just the way Kovi is speaking , sounds to me like he might of already quit
