If Andre Ward never retired, would he still be P4P #1 today?

Andre Ward was recognized as the P4P #1 fighter in the world when he retired. If he never retired, and was still fighting today, would he still hold the P4P crown.

Ward just said that he thinks Canelo will stop Kovalev in 11 or 12 rounds because Kovalev "can't take it to the body."

Max Kellerman just asked Ward: "He will have gone up 2 weight divisions, if your prediction is true, to stop a guy it took you 2 fights to stop."

Kellerman then asked if Ward if he would come back to fight Canelo for the P4P crown. Ward just smiled and said that he doesn't think Oscar or Canelo would say his name.

If Canelo stops Kov, and then Ward comes back and beats Canelo, would that be enough to regain the top spot on the P4P list?

If Ward returned and defeated Canelo, he would be #1 p4p.

Undefeated, 3-time champ with the best win in boxing.

If he stayed at 175, yes. If he went to cruiserweight for Usyk or heavyweight for Joshua, no.

I think Bivol would have beat him. Beterbiev too.

Ward should have beat Stevenson and then retired though.

I think if he beat usyk the wbss winner unified cruiserweight champion for all them belts post the Tony bellew win I think that would be an amazing feat and amazing 3 weight world champion. But not as sexy on paper as beating canelo but in terms of a quality resume why don't you recognise that as greatness. Joshua hasn't unified for undisputed so I wouldn't consider it the same calibre but that still would of been amazing, ita much betyer than roy jones win over john ruiz , aj is massive and an Olympic gold medallist, unified champion(prior to the Ruiz fight) so let's be honest both would be great feats.

In my opinion he would not. He retired as light heavyweight champion and if he defended that title against the best I think Bivol or Beterbiev would have defeated him. I don't think he could beat Canelo if he came back but if he did I still don't think he would be anywhere close to the best pfp fighter in the world. GGG, Spence, Loma,Inoue,Crawford and a few others are all better than Ward pfp in my opinion. I never had him number 1 pfp at any time. I thought Kovalev clearly won the first fight with Ward and Ward used illegal low blows to get a KO stoppage the ref should not have given him. The ref should have been warning him for illegal low blows and given Kovalev 5 minutes to recover.

LOL, who was calling Ward P4P King!?

              It shows how r e t a r d e d these rankings are.

P4P #1 at what? Winng on blatant fouls.

Watching him he looks like a High School Football QB compared to Lomachenko's Tom Brady.

People probably won't remember Ward in 15 years, they'll be talking about Lomachenko the way we talk about Ray Robinson.

If Canelo beats KKK no contreversary Wards legacy means jack shyt....

Would love to see Ward Canelof KKK losses as I had a opinion of Ward as a master boxer at one point, until I seen Kovalev outboxing him clearly in fight one, and also in fight two before he got nut shot happy......

Going into the first Ward-Kovalev fight, Mayweather was retired, and I believe Kovalev was ranked #1 and Ward #2. Both guys were undefeated, and since Ward was the one moving up, the win easily put him as the new #1. Then, the stoppage in the rematch solidified his ranking.
