Apparently it was a 50-50 split and Kovalev pulled out because he wouldn’t fight on showtime and they wouldn’t win the purse bid. My apologies, I remembered it being a split in favor of Stevenson as the reason. I must’ve confused it with another fight.

Yeah and Stevenson did not duck Hopkins, leading to Pascal fighting Hopkins instead, right?

And Stevenson did not pay Eleider Alvarez step aside fees twice, right?

Yes, Kovalev avoided Stevenson to fight Pascal (who beat Stevenson in the amateurs), Ward and Eleider Alvarez, while Stevenson went on to big challenges like fighting Fonfara twice....

        Totally makes sense.

Next time instead of checking boxrec, actually watch some boxing. Then you might know something without having to be told.

Is this another ****post or is MrSantiago really that much of a dumb blind moron?

Let's see... beat a prime Nathan Cleverly, controlled BHOP for 12 full rounds and knocked him down, destroyed and abused Jean Pascal TWICE, beat Ward in the first, outboxed the hell out of Alvarez.

Then he also boxed and beat down a ton of B rated fighters including big punchers like Yarde, slippery Chilemba,

AND he did a lot of that while abusing his body... something he is not right now.

Kovalev has the BEST resume at LHW today... and far better than any of the other current champions or what Chickenson had.

Heck, he has a better resume than GGG. =P

Kovalev has not ducked ANYONE! Stevenson ran away to a Showtime deal as has been proven a number of times.

You can say Kovalev is weak to body, aging, etc... but he has NOT ducked anyone.

I saw what happened, what actually happened is reality. What someone tells you, if it differs from what you know to be true, is fiction.

Seriously, in this day and age, it's important to always know the difference.

His resume is good, not great. He beat all the top light heavyweights except Ward - and the first fight could have gone either way. 175 wasn't as strong as it is now when Kovalev was in his prime. He doesn't have a truly career-defining win against an elite fighter. A win over current Bivol, Gvozdyk or Beterbiev would be by far the best win on his resume, but he can't beat those guys now.

You are all over the road on this. The other day you started a thread saying Canelo beating Kovalev would make him one of the 5 greatest fighters of all time and maybe the 2nd greatest boxer of all time. Today you say Kovalev's resume is garbage. Make up your mind. Kovalev has an excellent resume overall but he is 36 years old and shot now as recent KO losses and sub par performances have shown. A few years ago he would have been the betting favorite to beat Canelo. Today he is a 4 to 1 underdog.
