Thurman should have kept his mouth shut. Was there really an injury? Did it really affect his performance? Could he have done better under different circumstances?

This isn't something new. Fighters go into fights all the time physically compromised because they don't want to lose out on their payday. Only promoters get paid in the event a card is either canceled or postponed because they have insurance that would cover all of the losses and damages incurred for the bout being scrapped but the fighters do not.

Leonard did it against Hearns in their first bout in 1981. Leonard suffered an injury in training camp to the point where he was beginning to see floaters in his left eye but he hid it from the commission by keeping it to himself because he didn't want the fight postponed and miss out on a career high pay day.
