I like Miguel. He was a fan friendly fighter with loads of heart and anything could happen when he was in the ring.
That said, only in pro boxing could a shot fighter like Cotto get a chance at a title Going into his title fight with Martinez, Cotto had gone 5-5. In those 5 losses he had suffered beat downs by Pac, Magarito and even Floyd had him ready to go.
You got to believe Cotto's huge PR fanbase had something to do with him getting a shot at the injured Martinez and coming out as MW Champ, only to lose it 2 fights later to another fighter with an even bigger fan base. Dat's boxing!

didnt cotto destroyed and embarassed Geale ? at that time geale was considered ggg's best win on his resume, so if cotto was weak then gggs resume was trash...
also cotto was considered top 10 p4p at the time...

There has been quite a few over history were weaker champs, Cotto would do ok at 160 with any smaller MW that went up to win the title, when a guy is above his weight class from LW to MW its hard to be dominate.

Cotto was a top flight fighter.

He destroyed Sergio, Geale, and fought well against Canelo despite the loss.

He was a vulnerable MW Champ, but the version of Sergio he beat, the one that went life and death with Martin Murray, was weaker than that version of Cotto.

Geale was finished . He had been KO'd by GGG two fights previous
He lost to Cotto, lost one more fight and retired.

True. Miguel was great at 140, good at 147, ok at 154 and weak at MW. IMO
