Hey what do you think Benn would've been like if he trained with Kevin Rooney?

      From KO Magazine, Sept '95:

The film of Benn training for the Nardiello fight was frightening. Showtime's Dr. Ferdie Pacheco tried to lighten the footage by telling us that Benn ate fish for breakfast and drank half a bottle of neat honey a day. But the camera could not lift it's unblinking eye from the dramatic sight of Benn punishing his gleaming body. An enormous weight had been bolted to his head. His eye looked like they might pop out onto that plate of fresh fish as he heaved the iron ball from the ground with the strength of a vein-branched neck. His face contorted in a spasm of rapturous agony as he hoisted the weight up and down, up and down, as if locked into some mysterious S&M contraption which bridged the misty gap between pain and pleasure. Then he roared into an astonishing series of one-armed press-ups which he rotated with a puffing train of 'sit-ups'. The latter consisted of Benn elevating himself from a lying position into a sitting stance and on into an upright stand and back down again in two-second streamers of strain. Eerie grunts and cries rushed up the length of his body and out the black tunnel of his mouth. It was as if he had never fought Gerald McClellan.

The crazy **** is that it was only 5 months later.
        Benn has no heart.

Well, a lot like Patterson/Torres/Tyson I guess. But Benn was bobbing and weaving well under Moughton and Tibbs, very well infact, and with Benn it was all natural talent - he learned himself to bob and weave when taking on heavyweights in the army (he could always bob and weave really well but just didn't use it until Moughton and Tibbs brought it out of him).

            Benn has no heart.
Part of Benn's post-fight interview, on the ring apron after the Nardiello fight:

"But I'm looking for someone who can give me a real fight ... get someone who's gonna **** me, knock me down, hurt me - and then like you'll see me come storming back!"

            and..

"Oh Roy Jones ... (stops and sighs in delight) Roy Jones to me I think he's a class act. I don't mind being number two to Roy Jones! He's the only one who's going to really frighten me and I need that. I'd really, really like to fight Roy Jones. I need someone who's gonna frighten me and he does that, but I'm not saying 'Ohhhhh I'm scared of him' but I would be up for that fight like a mother ... so please God, Don King, Frank Warren, HBO or whatever, if you can get that fight on I'd fight him in his own backyard, I would go to his house and fight him in his backyard. Roy Jones is the only one who's gonna give me that real fear, I'm talking about, Gerald McClellan gave me some fear, but this guy is really going to put the fear of God up me."

Roy Jones Jr told Boxing News:

"I want the three-fight package. My bro's must go with me. I must have cover if I go to another country. Bruno-Cole would be a good fight. Let's make it a great night. I've seen Hamed. He's a pretty good fighter but Gainer watched the fight against Robinson and said he could beat him. Derrick don't turn anyone down. Bruno can punch, but Cole has more skills. That will balance out into a good fight. Me and Benn - enough said. I like Benn and that's why I want to fight him. It's a sportsman challenge. (But) they can't speak for themselves. They can't make their own decisions without King. We can. They don't have the power. They're denying the public of some great fights ... people want to see something which is intriguing to their minds. Something which will look good ... I really like the biggest challenge out there. When I fought James Toney, it was a project. Benn is a project because he is a warrior and he will be a tough fight for me. He's always been an awesome performer. I really believe Benn wants to fight me. I have a lot of faith in him. I respect him."

              (Cole = Al Cole)

                  the greatest comeback would be:

for 12 rounds he was dominated, then hit his opponent on a one punch KO to win in 12rds.

never heard anything like this in boxing.

That's what happened in the McCline/Boswell fight.

Hes a professional! And showed his experience in spitting out the mouthgaurd to get more recovery time! Its not cheating, its crafty!
