Kovalev throwing shots at Ward even though Ward always hypes up Kovalev in his interviews.

I wonder where Kovalev's career is at if he got the decision in their first fight.

No matter what you think of Kovalev or Ward, the fact is that the first fight was close, but Kova won. Now if he had been awarded the decision, like he should have, Ward would have been so pissed out of his mind, that he would have retired! ... Thus, no second fight. (The fact that SOG this retire right after the rematch is proof enough).

Now this said, and to his credit, he did give Kova a rematch and won it. Yes there were a few low blows, but it didn't,t change much to the outcome.

The rest is just boxing fans being haters and being bias..

A loss to Andre Ward is better than win on any other LHW champs resume. Kov may not be what he used to but hes been at the highest level & is right about being. the best LHW. He has the experience & size.

Kovalev dissing Ward is to be expected.

Sounds like Kovalev is overlooked

If Kovalev finds a way to prevent Canelo closing the distance and going to the body, then a long competitive 12 rounds can ensue.

But the longer the fight goes, the more it favours Canelo.

Interesting strategy for Kova to try and end the fight quickly.

The real question is how Kovalev takes Canelo's punches. I don't see the WBC Carne Franchise Champion having the power to put Kov down even if he does go to the body. Unless he catches Krusher with a shot he doesn't see ala Kirkland.

Ward is a great fighter but Kovalev is right about his mentality. Ward had Kovalev hurt, but instead of finishing him like a champion, Ward punched himself out, then looked for a break from the ref or a way out throwing three low blows vs Kovalev.

Ward stamina was at zero. He was exhausted and worn down before he even hurt Kovalev. That's why he got so aggressive and desperate. It worked, he hurt Kovalev, but he lacked the power to finish Kovalev despite landing 10 more huge shots on a hurt fighter, and by then Ward must have been exhausted.

So he looked for a way out. The whole time, the Ward fans, and the Kovalev haters, have unfairly labeled Kovalev a quitter with no heart. He proved that wrong in the Yarde fight. Unless you punch his nuts over and over and leave him physically unable to stand, he is hard to get rid of, and he will come back and knock you out.

Maybe Ward knew that. Or maybe Ward just wanted a rest from the ref, but surprisingly got given the W instead. Either way, Ward blinked first, not Kovalev. Ward stopped fighting even though his opponent was hurt, not Kovalev. Kovalev was hurt but never stopped trying. Ward had his opponent hurt, but still showed mental weakness, still tried to get a rest from the ref by fouling right in front of him, repeatedly.

That's not the behavior of a real champion. In that moment, Ward fell short of that. Kovalev is right to be bitter. You would be too if the signature moment of your career was stolen by corrupt or incompetent officiating when you yourself never gave up and still had a good chance to survive and come back and win, like the Yarde fight.

Does anyone not find it even slightly odd that Canelo has fought at 154, 160, 168 and now 175 in the space of only 2 and a bit years. I'm telling you the guy is a BLATANT DRUGS CHEAT. A very good boxer but a cheat nonetheless. We are told he is signed up to VADA 247/365 but how do we actually know that is the case? For all the revenue his fights generate would the comissions even care if he used PEDs?

Canelo is a good boxer but his career has been a joke and his name should never be brought up in P4P coverstations for all the shenanigans connected to him.

I saw an interview a few weeks ago with Paulie Malinaggi. He was saying the same thing. I would have to agree with both of you.
