He isn't avoiding Crawford. He has never recieved a single offer to fight Crawford. Is he supposed to fight Crawford for free? Spence fights champions while Crawford fights Khan and next some guy nobody ever heard of.

Arum is about making money and he knows Spence will move up to 154 before too long, so he and Bud have an incentive to make the fight before that happens. It is as you say a "fight of the century type fight" and at age 87 it might be the Bobfather's last hurrah as an active promoter.

As for Mayweather, getting every possible advantage is normal and I don't mean doing illegal things. As the "A-side" he dictated the terms of all of his fights. He gave himself every opportunity to win -- keeping in shape year-round, fighting whom he wanted to fight, when he wanted to fight and where he wanted to fight. He always had the home-field advantage. He paid attention to every detail, from the opponent's flaws to his own weaknesses. This is a lesson that Canelo has learned well.

Floyd is more accomplished in three things more than any other fighter of his generation, in this order: marketing, strategy, and boxing. I have said before, he could have given a seminar on marketing at Harvard. As for strategy two books come to mind. One is "The Book of Five Rings" by Miyamoto Musashi" and the other is "The Art of War" by Sun Tzu. A third would be any book that Floyd would care to write about the subject.

Crawford knew all along that he wanted to move up to Welterweight...that being said, it confuses the HELL outta me as to why he would sign a contract extension with Bob Arum, especially with that ESPN+ deal in the works. Instead of people talking smack about Spence fighting all of the best welterweights NOT named Crawford, people should be asking themselves why Crawford put himself in this predicament in the first place!

At the end of the day, we will see Crawford vs Spence on 1 of 2 of the following occasions:
1. Bob Arum dies and whoever takes over relents letting Crawford Walk
2. The fight grows to the highest profile fight in boxing and generates enough buzz to warrant a co-promotion.

Once again, just like many other fighters, BOB ARUM IS HINDERING BUDS CAREER!!!

Spence will move up to 154 after he's cleaned out the division. If it becomes unattainable to get the Crawford fight, he will have no choice but to move up to fight at 154. Lets keep in mind, boxing politics rule the spectrum here....So, as much as it pains me to say, by the time Spence collects the WBA and WBC chips, he will be (and really already is) the A-Side in the Crawford fight. Bob is probably praying Spence just moves up so that they can scream "duck"

I agree on your point of Floyd being the most accomplished fighter in that order however I think you can say the same thing about Pacquiao in just a different order: Boxing, strategy, marketing.

The fact that pacquiao doesn't market himself, talk up himself and claims TBE yet is still compared to Floyd in boxing terms is why Pacquiao is more accomplished in boxing than Floyd which at the end of the day isn't that what this is all about? The sport and not the business of it from a fan perspective? That's why Manny will always be greater.
