Fury is and always has been a strange case. He seems to take lower opposition and his performance levels vary but then he is able to talk and goad his way in to title shots against the top tier fighters and then he comes to life and we see what he is capable of.

It's ugly but it's effective and it's boxing. We all love the knock outs but if you know your boxing you can see what makes fury impressive, if you wanna call him a fraud or what ever then I take it your just being salty, if your being honest YDKSAB.

No, there are unwritten rules within reason but if dumb people want to bring in animals or athletes from other sports into consideration, that's up to you idiots.

Fury is active and beat the man who was last lineal, therefore he is lineal.

Anything to self promote the network even if it means turning our sport into frame less blob of meaningless fights. The network and promoter is simply not bigger than the sport. Those who believe the sport is secondary should set up there own sport.

Fury is the lineal champ, intact since Sullivan. The man to beat. The boogeyman of the division. The kingpin. Until someone truly beats him, he is the HW division. The cash cow. The golden goose. The Bobfather has boxing in his hands.

Great story!! Fury is no more the lineal champ then Jeffries was before fighting Johnson. Once you retire for more then 2 and a half years its vacant. Once the consensus top 2 fight(Fury v Wilder) then the winner is champ its that simple. The same people who call Fury the champ because he beat Wlad(which he WAS) forget Wlad never beat a lineal champ because the last one(Lewis) retired. Its the same here, and this is not to sh it on Fury because he is one of the top 2 and NO ONE can become champ without beating him, but for NOW its VACANT.

I don't mind the idea that the lineal title is vacant actually. But it ought to be recognised that Fury has more of a claim than anyone else. Especially considering that he only failed to beat Wilder because of weird cards. If Fury beats Wilder in the rematch, would you consider his claim for lineal status valid? (Assuming AJ wins his rematch also) Or would there then need to be a fight made between the two Brits to decide things?

If it comes down to Aj v Fury, and all the belts are on the line, that will square things up quite nicely in terms of lineal status

Bout time somebody spoke up on these shenanigans that Top Rank is parading around over there....Fury has fought 2 guys in the top 10 since 2015. That means in the last 4 years he's been fighting bottom tier competition. If he actually fights Wilder in February I see him getting stopped under 9. After getting his eye blown out by a journey man there's no telling if that fight will happen now.

If it doesn't I'd love to see the winner of Ruiz Vs Joshua II take Fury's spot and face Wilder early next year as long as he gets past Ortiz in his next fight.

Really silly article. Its amazing how many guys have covered boxing for so long, yet they treat every event like it is a new high, or low. Ill say this as long as breath is in my body...Any fan that 5hits on the lineal is shooting themselves in the foot. Heres the thing about the lineal, it my go through times of great embarrasment, times when it is barely understood to be, but at its root it is for the fans. It is in some ways never legit, in other ways the most legit title there is in boxing.

Then guys who know so much about boxing claim it is ridiculous? Well the fact is, tyson is no more or less a champion than Ruiz, or Wilder. I think Wilder against Ortiz where he had some rough moments, and Fury in his last fight as well as the the wilder fight,both showed championship grit.

Don't think there was a prob with scoring, I had it a draw and some writers like D Rafiel and B Campball had him winning. To answer your question if Fury beats Wilder would I consider him the REAL champ? YES no doubt about it. AJ has lost and Ruiz has yet to beat any top 15 guy outside AJ so they are the CLEAR top 2(in whatever order you like). So hopefully about March I would guess because Feb too soon if Wilder is not fighting until late Nov and now Fury's cut we will have a REAL champ. Hopefully after a possible rematch the winner will fight the new #1 contender the Ruiz v AJ winner.
