    How is he the lineal
Champion if he never beat Lewis? In fact if Marciano retired undefeated, wouldn’t the lineal title have ended there?

I do think Vitali was rightfully lineal and should have regained his status when he returned to thrash Peter in 2008 because the lineal status had not been re-established. Of course, when he retired in 2012 for good that all went away.

Fury was only out of the ring due to his license issues and anyone with any sense knows that. His mental health issues were just a cliffnote to the story. He was never really retired and lineage was never re-established. Hence, he's still the lineal champ. The end

I fully agree. Fury might be the best, but he gave up his championship. But the author of this article lost his credibility when he listed a bogus cruiserweight belt as a "legitimate title fight" in his upcoming weekly list.

Regardless of why he didn't fight (wasn't he suspended, even if back dated), he didn't fight and thus vacated the lineal position. Once you vacate, you must regain it. Its about fighting and winning. There are more conditions to being lineal champ other than not getting beat. You have to defend it which he did not do for over 2 years and when he did come back to fight, he fought two bums.

Jess Willard and Jack's Dempsey both had 3 year gaps between title defenses.....

100% agreement about the IBO belt. That organisation gives money to this website to be mentioned but it’s a trash belt just like the wbu, wbf, etc etc. The only people who seem to think it’s something are those from countries who’s fighters are not good enough to win a legit world title

All these recent events with Joshua and Fury means what I thought. British boxers are grossly overrated and can't hold a candle to American fighters.

Fury is running from Wilder and Joshua is an overrated probably gay wannabe celebrity.

Now I hope I offended any wanker reading this....if I did...go sit down and sip on tea and crumpets.

Fury is no star in the States. He isn't the champion because he popped dirty for steroids and then blamed it on a drug addiction (crackhead). Then he hopped on the mental illness train and people gave him a pass.

Oh, geez. Do you know anything at all about the HW championship lineage? There is no such thing as a lineal champion - in any weight division in boxing.

Being lineal is mythical anyways so I don't see why there's a real strict set of rules on the subject anymore so I don't stay up late at night worrying about it.
