It's because of his long and wiry build. If he was bit wider and shorter he would go to the body more like Dereck Chisora.

Just take AJ for instance. He goes to the body regularly while throwing lots of hooks and uppercuts in the process.

However, since Wilder is longer and a lot leaner, he is mostly a two punch combination puncher; The left jab followed by the right cross.

      Pretty much this.

He has serious power and is very athletic though.

Does anything that Wilder does suggest that he has a strategy, tactic or gameplan in the ring?
He hits hard, go for the head. That's all he knows.

The second KO on the reel I posted is a body jab.

            End. Of. Thread.

Wilder struggled enough with Tyson's jab when staying at range.

Hearns had a tremendous hook to the body. One of the best body shots I've ever seen. By the time he reach Light Heavyweight he was a very complete fighter, equipped for fighting on the inside. While he lacked the size advantage he'd enjoyed earlier in his career, he was very much a fight who was effective going to the body while possessing a wirey build.

Oh yea, and then there was that guy named Robinson...

Name me a better punch than Robinson's uppercut.

Actually that IS his game plan and he's amazing at it.

Watch Heavyweights. What Wilder does is, comparatively, very impressive. Over the last 100+ years I would say he's one of the best at sticking to the script.

I doubt he can spell his own name, tie his own shoes, or count backwards from 20 to 1. But he knows how to stay the course in the ring, and it's an impressive achievement.

I think that Wilder's team thinks the risk of getting countered outweighed the benefits. He could incorporate some stuff like the Holyfield left to the chest and knockouts would come much quicker. Boxers can only possible account for Wilder's right hand it's that potent but if he uses more than that it'll overwhelm everybody.

It's actually part of Errol Spence's Jr. gameplan to overwhelm the opponent with the entire arsenal, going to the body and head and back, which is why he'll come out on top at 147. If Wilder does that more often ain't nobody beating him or going 12.

Your undestimating him. I saw an interview with him on British media and he's no dummy.

He doesn't need to change anything because him and his team knows that 100% of all his fights will end with his opponent on the canvas so deontay's team focuses on his power.working on improving those twitch fiber powers which is already insane.no need to focus on the other crap just put that fist in his mouth and get him outta here.
