I go with Hatton to win a close decision either UD or SD. Hatton does have the ability to box like against Ben Tackie and definitely cannot KO Baldomir. Hatton also has a great body attack which is often overlooked. If you want to slow down or hurt Baldomir it has got to be to the body especially after hearing that his training habits leave something to be desired. On the other hand Baldomir showed great timing in his fight against Gatti and I think he will definitely land a lot of punches on Ricky as Ricky's defense is often absorbing shots. If Hatton can get inside and wrestle like he did against Collazo and Koz, he will be in a good position as Baldomir seems to need space to punch. One thing to consider though is that Hatton cuts easily and Baldomir opened up a cut on Gatti pretty quickly so this fight could be stopped due to a Hatton cut. Great action fight any way you look at it.

The probability of a fighter being able to open a cut on Gatti is roughly equivalent to the probability of falling off a ladder and hitting the ground. It's not really a good measure of a fighter's ability.Originally posted by amagninOne thing to consider though is that Hatton cuts easily and Baldomir opened up a cut on Gatti pretty quickly...Comment

If we're talking about a welterweight fight we can't dismiss Hatton's only forray into 147 against Collazo. A man who is not a pressure fighter, not a big puncher, and yet was about to take what Hatton dished out, and hurt him. Yes, Collazo was a slick boxer who frustrated Hatton rather than taking much of what he had, but the point is that Ricky did not look impressive at the higher weight. Why are we now assuming he can beat the bigger, extremely solid Baldomir? I see Ricky getting hurt in this fight, not because Baldomir is a better fighter neccesarily, but because he is a bigger man. Hatton gets taught what a big 147 lb. welterweight looks like across the ring from him, has trouble, can't hurt him, and losses in a fashion similiar to Gatti.
When Hatton can't hurt him Baldomir will be like the Energizer bunny. He'll keep coming, and coming, and...Comment

Right... my point is both Gatti and Hatton cut easily and Baldomir opened up a cut quickly on one and may be able to do the same to the other. But you are right Gatti cutting is like looking up and seeing the sky is blue.Originally posted by vB MartinThe probability of a fighter being able to open a cut on Gatti is roughly equivalent to the probability of falling off a ladder and hitting the ground. Baldomir
Pro:
- Strong chin
- Good couterpunching
- Natural WW
- Bigger in size
cons:
- Slow
- lack footwork
- Slow starter
Hatton:
Pro:
- Good body puncher
- good hooks
Cons:
- smaller in size
I voted for Baldomir to win by late KO. he got reach advatge over hatton and that is the way he is going take Hatton back. As well as his strong chin cant make Hatton hurt him or Ko him in the early round when he starts slow. Baldomir going to Ko Hatton in the later round when Hatton loses his energy and Baldomir going to counter Hatton as the same way he did to Gatti. If Hatton to win he need to concetrat on scoring the first couple of round instead of finding for a KO because if he does then Baldomir will catch him in the later round, Hatton gotta preseve his energy and try to win the first 4 rounds and three mid rounds to win, as a slugger you uses so much energy.Comment

How so?Originally posted by 2toughnot to knock ricky at his skills. its just that i am really really impressed with Carlos and his heart and skills.
on paper he beat Judah the best southpaw in the division and knocked out gatti better than mayweather did.
however hatton in his last fight had to put on 7lbs of muscles in a couple of weeks, which slowed him down. maybe in this fight he can put it on slowly and keep his speed and power?
then again CARLOS has been a welter all his career.
Floyd dominted every round and stopped him in 6. Baldy vs Hatton was a close fight up to the 9th.Comment

True, but Hattons face swells very easily too.Originally posted by vB MartinThe probability of a fighter being able to open a cut on Gatti is roughly equivalent to the probability of falling off a ladder and hitting the ground. It's not really a good measure of a fighter's ability.Comment

I agree that Floyd's stoppage was more impressive to me. Gatti didn't win one second of the fight let alone a round. Plus when his corner threw in the towel he didn't complain which for Gatti is a big deal (it is almost like quitting). Gatti could have beaten Baldomir but he couldn't escape his true nature as a fighter... to brawl. If he had boxed Baldomir like he did in the 1st and 7th rounds he might have been able to win a decision because he wouldn't have been taking major punishment. On the other hand I was impressed with Baldomir's great timing of right handsComment
