  • Comments Thread For: Haney: If I'm So Easy, No-Machenko Should Get Me Out The Way

NEW YORK-Devin Haney may be wise beyond his 20 years of age but isn't above a little trolling. Another star turn was delivered in his latest performance, bludgeoning Russia's Zaur Abdullaev (11-1, 7KOs) through four one-sided rounds of action in their battle of unbeaten lightweights Friday evening at Madison Square Garden's Hulu Theater in New York City. The win netted the Las Vegas-based boxer an interim lightweight title which he's eager to parlay into a full title shot.

“If I’m so easy, if I’m not ready, then why not just get me out the way,” wonders Haney. “If I saw someone in my position who was viewed as just an easy payday, I would fight him too.

This is the problem. Haney just doesn't understand what makes Loma tick. A lot of people get this wrong, and I don't know why - it isn't like Loma is shy about saying what motivates him.

Loma isn't interested in easy fights, or easy paydays.

Haney is using the wrong bait. He's using a tofu burger to try to catch a tiger. That won't work.

Then tell Bob Arum to make the fight. Oh that's right. I almost forgot. Arum said that Featherweight Shakur Stevenson would be a much more stiffer challenge for the 135 lbs Vasiliy Lomachenko than the Lightweight Devin Haney. What a fucking joke? Quit breaking our balls Bob. You are copping out. The fact is you would rather duck him because he is too good and a threat to "The Matrix"

Haney's a talent. I'm not sure why he's taking Arum's words and putting them in Lomachenko's mouth though. When has Lomachenko ever dismissed Haney? Either way, calling Lomachenko out gets the ball rolling. I'd like to see Haney take a tougher opponent first. I'd like to see him fight Campbell, Crolla, or even Nakatani next. That would set him up in prime position to call for Lomachenko after he unifies with the Commey-Lopez winner.

Even now Haney would be one of Lomachenko's most difficult opponents but it probably only benefits the kid to hone his skills against a contender like Campbell, Linares or Fortuna in the meantime. It's a fight that needs to happen in 2020 and will be considered a legacy fight for the winner when all is said and done

Am I the only one who thinks Haney would walk through any punch Loma would throw at him?

I can see this being a bad and dangerous matchup for Loma.
