What is Kovalev’s Walk Around Weight?

People say he is “drained” at weighins so how much is Kovalev cutting to always make 175?

I would say 190 or so.

He got asked why he doesn't move up to CW and he said he walks around at less than the CW limit and he would be massively outsized by everyone there.

It's not like he can just juice like Canelo and go through the weights as well

Russians don’t juice? Interesting. How much does Yarde walk around and how much difference was Yarde compared to Kovalev on fight night?

Probably walks around a little over 200 between camps. He is just under 190 in the ring last times I looked it up.

His promoter says he's at a tough spot for weight because he's starves himself to make 175 and isn't 100% but he's not quite big enough for cruiser.

Hopkins seemed to agree with this and was shocked at how long and lanky Kovalev was in the ring, said it ruined his strategy.

Canelo should follow Ward's blueprint and just target the bottom of Kovalev's athletic cup.

He fought as a light heavyweight in the amateur ranks for a long time which is 178lbs. I have heard he has to work hard to make 175 so I am completely surprised he is fighting five pounds lighter for this payday.

Look at Tony Bellew. He was massively thin at 175, but speedy as hell, lanky. Bellew seems like a Kovalev type that they’re not disciplined in power training. Most Cruisers-Heavy lift, gain muscle mass. In pro world this could all be calculated to the science which is what many boxers do at the elite star level.

My point is if Kovalev was truly P4P he could add 10-15lb of pure muscle and make Cruiser. Beterbiev is a good example. I think Kovalev been milking 175 as GGG did at 160.

Shawn Porter fought guys like Usyk in the ams. Spence and Porter are HUGE for Welterweights going upon how some of their off camps one looked out of shape.

I think we’re giving Kovalev too much empathy when it isn’t needed. “Trouble” making weight isn’t consistent and not all boxers can endure or are disciplined for the pure hustle - gym ratism. Bivol ain’t a small dude either, yet he’s willing to drain for 168. I’m sure Kovalev has no problem sacrificing this horrifying world of “5lbs”

I wouldn't see them as comparable. Kovalev is big for 175 while GGG is if anything small for 160.

Honestly, do posters lie or simply many have no idea or real world physiques and weights? If GGG once upon a time said he’d fight Bhop at 175 or Duva saying Kova vs GGg could only be at 175 or Anel Sanchez saying “in the future - 175 yes.” What does a future translate to infighting at LHW considering GGG’s general age? Was Sanchez trolling?
