Crawford and Brook go at each other.

Kell Brook was in New York at the Crawford-Khan weigh in and fight back in April, saying he wanted Crawford next. Crawford is fighting someone else later this year, and Brook hasn't fought anyone in 2019. But both have just brought up their potential match up and had harsh words for each other.

Michelle Joy Phelps: "I know Kell Brook's been wanting you, do you not want Kell."

Crawford:"Tell Kell to make weight and we'll fight. Yeah, I'll go and dust him off."

Kell responded by saying Crawford didn't sign off when Brook was in New York in April:

That sounds dumb from Brook, sign off what exactly? Did Brook went over to New York with a contract or something! He went there to clout chase Khan as usual. His contract stipulations with Matchroom makes it almost impossible to have a mega fight with the numbers he has to be paid.

Agreed, Brook is a case of demanding more money than he is worth. He is an unknown over in the US. If the fight were in the UK that would be different.

Brook is a victim of this soft generation of boxing.

Everyone is avoiding him because he lost.

Does it make more financial sense to have Crawford fight Egidijus Kavaliauskas in the fall?

Crawford will stop Kavaliauskas, but that fight does little for Crawford. Brook is a name, and the best name on Spence's resume. Spence is about to have a unification fight with a guy that Brook already beat. If Crawford had an impressive performance against Brook, that would make negotiating the Spence fight easier. Especially if Crawford beat Brook worse than Spence did.

What is Kav getting paid as a mandatory? 750k tops? Where are they going to find 5m to pay Brook? Unless that fight happens in the UK in Sheffield, on PPV. No way would they find those kind of money for Brook, and I doubt Crawford would come over to the UK for that fight.

Yep, if that fight happens in the UK then they could turn it into this big event. But would Bud go over to the UK? Would Rank allow him? Like they did Lomachenko?

                Khan and Kavaliauskas in 2019.
                Brook and Bes***** in 2020.
Maybe Spence will be ready by 2021.
If not, then Adames for the WBO 154 lb strap in 2021.

Crawford is running out of options so he would probably agree to go fight in the UK if he can't get the Spence fight next.

Crawford would like the winner of Spence-Porter after his fight with Kavaliauskas. But if that doesn't happen, who's he going to fight? Probably not any other PBC fighter?

Brook went to LA and beat Porter, and Spence went to the UK to beat Brook. I know that Crawford is the champ and probably doesn't want to go to his opponent's home turf, but he needs this fight if PBC freezes him out again.

Who knows what’s going to happen! Matchroom haven’t done much with Brook lately, and that’s more to do with him waiting for the right fights. If Crawford is willing to take less as the champion, and willing to go to the UK because he is desperate for opponents then maybe he should consider moving up.

Crawford has fought in the UK before but not as the champ, and not as the name he is now. As your name gets bigger you tend not to even consider travelling, especially American boxers.
