Respect to Canelo for taking thos fight with no catch weight or rehydration clause.
I think Canelo gets a lot of hate because he has been given the nod in a lot of close fights. I think GGG won the first fight , and also think the Lara fight was either a draw or a Lara win.
This is not Canelos fault though, and he has regularly taken on tough opposition, with a few cherry picks along the way.
I agree that Kovalev is not ad good as he was a few years back, but by no means is he shot and Canelo will be the smaller man. Interesting fight I have it 60/40

Of the rounds Kovalev won he dominated

Of the rounds Ward won he squeaked by

I had it 7-5 Kovalev with the KD or 115-112.

All 3 judges had it 114-113 for Ward (7-5 w/ lost point for KD), but personally I couldnt see it any better than 6-6 which makes it 114-113 for Kovalev.

Either way I'm not up in arms because it was a great fight. The rematch was more definitive although somewhat ruined because of damn ref..Tony Weekes is so bad

I’m with you, I had Kovalev beating Ward the first time. I think Ward got too much credit for making the comeback, and it was easy to cheer him on, but in actuality he lost the fight. I don’t know how I feel about the rematch. I’ve never been able to put my finger on what made Kovalev good and think he might have been overrated. Still if he got the win vs Ward the first time, I think perceptions would be different. The way boxing is I’m just glad there’s no weight restrictions, and that it’s happening so fast after the Yarde fight. I don’t know if that’s good or bad for Kovalev.

Couldn’t agree more. GGG said many times he’d fight anyone from 154 to 168. That was a major part of his marketing premise, and his fans are it up regurgitated it every chance they got.

To date, the only material fight he’s taken above 160 is against Rolls. Is Rolls @164 better than a CW fight against Chavez, 168 vs Fielding or 175 vs Kovalev?

This is just a bold lie. This "154 to 168" was Abel's phrase, dated back when GGG had difficulties finding opponents. And you sure as h*ll would not find "his fans" bragging about this ******ity.

Its definitely a good thing. People grossly underestimate Kovalevs BOXING skills and they'll be on full display.

Canelo is going to have a VERY tough time getting inside. Kovalev is going to be very fresh and very confident after beating back to back undefeated LHW. Now he fights a tough, strong, but not particularly powerful MW? And the guys only been a MW for a couple of years???
