Deontay Wilder, puppet or scared?

Joshua beat Charles Martin, Joseph Parker and a 42-year old Klitschko in a life and death battle to become unified champion.
And it only happened because Fury retired.
Parker beat Ruiz to become champion and it only happened because Fury retired
Ruiz exposed how made up Joshua is to become champion and it only happened because Fury retired. He also lost to Joseph Parker.
They’re all not very good.

And what was Wilder doing while all those "borderline top 10" guys were getting rich fighting each other for world titles after Fury retired?
Who was Deontay fighting instead of them?
That's a question Hatman asks and answers in the video I posted.Comment

Wilder didn’t fight anyone until he fought Luis Ortiz and Tyson Fury.
But he fought them so I won’t criticize him anymore.
No, it only happened because Fury did what Wilder wouldn't do .. fought and beat Wlad Klitschko.

Fighting 39 bums and ducking Klitschko while being a champion.
How brave!
Fighting Fury, after he came off 2 years of drugs, alcohol and blowing up, and had to lose over 100lb for the match.
How stunning!
Ducking $120m to fight Joshua and Breazeale, just to fight only the latter on Showtime for less.
How magnificent!
Ortiz is the only talented fighter Wilder has faced, who didn't destroy himself physically or have to lose a horrific amount of weight for the bout. Breazeale is a cab driver, who was handed the mandatory position, so I don't know why you bothered mentioning him.Last edited by Slicc; 09-12-2019, 09:01 PM.Comment

Even Ortiz and Fury should come with asterisks. Ortiz is at least 40 yo and has a medical problem. Fury looked like crap in his first comeback fights and was clearly not the same fighter as the one who beat Wlad.
Ortiz was Wilder's 40th opponent.
So, with the HW division in a state of flux and 3 world titles being fought over by guys with far less experience than him, why did it take Deontay 40 fights to step up to a decent level of opposition, and why did he turn down that extraordinary offer from DAZN to fight AJ?
If he goes ahead and rematches Fury, I will give him full respect for it, and even more if he wins. But looking at his career so far, the question asked in that video is a valid one, imo.
If Wilder is as good as he and his fans say he is, and if he'd gone out looking for the biggest fights available after winning the WBC belt, he would be the undisputed HW champion, with a freaking fortune in his bank account by now.
So why didn't that happen? Did Deontay doubt his own ability to make it happen, or has he been Haymon and Finkel's puppet all along?Last edited by kafkod; 09-13-2019, 07:50 AM.Comment

He turned down the offer from DAZN because he wanted to make the same amount of money for the fight with Joshua as Joshua did.
Does Joshua’s wins over Povetkin and Klitschko come with asterisks because of age and inactivity? If so, then fine, give Wilder asterisks, I don’t care. Just keep it fair.
And again, I’m not defending his first 39 opponents. But he’s 33, a title holder and he fought Fury and Ortiz. So it’s silly to criticize at this point.
