Wanna save boxing? Go back to 8 weight classes

Have you guys ever thought how stacked every division would be if we just used the original 8 divisions?

Just think of all the names at the super/light divisions that would have to move up.

Boxing would be so much more exciting.

I feel like flyweight, bantamweight, featherweight, lightweight and middleweight would be especially exciting divisions.

Yes and resume same day weigh-in.
Start enforcing the "No Holding Rule" or drop the mofo completely.

Id rather have one champ per division then 8 divisions at this point.

      17 divisions x 1 champ = 17 champs
      8 divisions x 4 champs = 32 champs

You got the same problems you got now with 8 divisions & the same number of titles. No one is fighting no one when there is so much title real estate to pick from. You need to drastic increase the value of being champion again more than anyting else.

I agree that the belts are a problem and would love to see one champ in each division.

But my idea here is that merging divisions would greatly increase the number of competitive fights. I’m not sure having one title does that.

17 titles makes more big fights happen than 32 titles.

And maybe more importantly 17 champs, 1 a division, makes boxing less confusing & disputable on whos the best. The enemy to casuals is the clusterf#ck of "world champions". The word champion is at a all time low in value in boxing. That needs to change for boxing to have its best possible future.

No idea how you get there from here admittedly, but idk how you'd get to 8 divisions either these days.

10 weight classes or 12 could suffice.

I don't think it helps much if at all. If you want to save boxing take some of the matchmaking power out of the promoters hands and put it into the hands of a governing body that has actual power to force contenders to fight.

Not saying I know how that happens but we are drowning in marinade and fighters not fighting other fighters because of who those fighters are signed with.

                    Yes!

As much as noone wants to do this, a high-profile fight DQ should have happened. It would have showed that guys can't keep fouling anf getting away with it.
