Comments Thread For: Making Lemonade From The Loss of Williams-Hurd II

By Cliff Rold - One of the best fights of 2019 might one day get a sequel. It just won't be next. As reported by BoxingScene's Keith Idec on Wednesday, the anticipated rematch between WBA/IBF Jr. middleweight titlist Julian Williams (27-1-1, 16 KO) and the man he deposed for the honors, Jarrett Hurd (23-1, 16 KO), won't be happening...

I may be in the minority here but I don't get the narrative that the first fight was all that compelling. I'm a fan of Hurd and was at the fight with seats very close to ringside. There was alot of action but I thought J-Rock handled Hurd relatively easy (and it pains me to say that).

Was that one of the best fights of 2019? Idk about that.

It was one of the best performances of the year by JRock. I didnt see it as a very compelling fight beyond that angle.

I honestly dont need to see the rematch with how dominant JRock's W was. Granted 8-4 & 7-5 isnt THAT wide, but with the KD & overall feel of the fight it felt wide enough when JRock was a sizable dog. Plus I think Hurd should just move up already. Guy is waaaaay to big for 154.
