But I am also pointing out my frustration with Charlo. Charlo hasn't really fought quality opposition. If this fight goes through as planned he would have spent 2019 fighting Brandon Adams and Dennis Hogan. That's a year of his prime fighting lame opposition. This is his 4th year at 160 and former champ Korobov is head and shoulders the best guy he's ever fought at the weight. As far as I am concerned Charlo is content to use his name and his paper belt to secure his shot rather than risk them by fighting the best available guys and there are sure as feces better guys than Brandon Adams and Dennis Hogan who are willing to fight him.Comment

I do advocate for GGG to fight Charlo. I am mainly just trolling a moron with these posts.

So Korobov is Charlo's Dervy. Then Adams is Rolls. You see where I'm going. They are doing the same thing...fighting to preserve status for a Alvarez fight. This isn't a total resume comparison. It's a current matchmaking comparison and its spot on.Comment

Sure, Brandon Adams and Steve Rolls are comparable. I would even be willing to consider Adams above Rolls. But you have to consider Sergei D a couple levels above Korobov as an opponent at this stage in everyone's career.Comment

Here are the problems with that argument. One, this wasn't a matchmaking decision it was a holy crap our original opponent pissed hot and we need someone to fight Charlo last minute kind of decision. Charlo's original opponent was a guy GGG had made quit 3 and a half years earlier. Secondly, Korobov was inactive. The fight with Charlo was only his second fight in 2 years.Thirdly, Korobov is slightly younger than GGG but older than Sergei D by 3 years and Charlo by 7 years. Thirdly, Sergei D was competitive with Daniel Jacobs. Korobov was competitive with Immanual Aleem. So GGG is fighting a younger, fresher and more active opponent in Sergei D whereas Korobov was an older, inactive last minute replacement fighter.

Bottom line...both have avoided tough fights while trying to get a Canelo fight.Comment

What you call splitting hairs is actually called looking at the situation objectively. I already said that I would be ok with ranking Adams above Rolls. Adams may not have had an undefeated record but unlike Rolls he fought quality middleweights. Splitting hairs is pointing out that a sanctioning body order the GGG/Dervy fight. GGG is still fighting the 5th best middleweight in the world (with Jacobs and BJS moving up to 168). Korobov hasn't been that level of middleweight for quite some time and he certainly wasn't considered that when he fought Charlo.Last edited by yankees7448; 09-05-2019, 03:33 PM.Comment

Why not Hogan vs J Rock or Hogan vs Hurd, Hogan vs Lara, Hogan vs Castano? It is ****** for him to move up after arguably beating a 154 World Champion and getting Robbed in the process
For Jermall, Move Up or take some fights at 168 while keeping your Hand Me Down Belt from the WBC at 160...Jermall vs Jose Uzcategui would be a damn good fight at 168. Jermall vs Peter Quillen would be good fight. Him a Jacobs have unfinished business, that can still be a big fight despite Jacobs losing to Canelo
Trying to think if Charlo has fought anybody his size or Bigger, I don't think he has! This looks bad and I don't see how people can defend his moves. I like Jermall actually, not like some people on this forum but it is time...in fact it is long overdue for him to do something BOLD with his Career! Playing things very safe right now just waiting, hoping, wishing and praying for a shot a big pay day with Canelo
Lubin vs Gausha I do like actually, winner of that probably in line for a Title shot. PBC needs a matchmaker or a BETTER ONE! All for fighters being their own boss but that does not mean they should play things SAFE and only choose fights they know they can winLast edited by sicko; 09-05-2019, 04:32 PM.Comment

Dervy is 33 year old man who was active and was competitive with a proven elite middleweight prior to his fight with a now 37 year old GGG. Prior to fighting Charlo Korobov hadn't fought a top level middleweight since he got KO'ed by Andy Lee 4 years prior. He was 35 years old when he fought the then 28 year old Charlo in the second fight of his comeback.
