All a bit ridiculous but at the same time somones got to make big money and views out of it, so it’s understandable why DAZN might as well be the ones making the money.
YouTubers boxing is probably one of the best things for the sport at the moment, their audience is the exact demographic that the sport needs to attract.
I just wonder if they do put the likes of BJS / Haney on the undercard, won't that make the main event look really amateurish. Its one thing to watch a decent white collar boxing match, its another to watch one straight after seeing world class boxers.
I guess I just look at this from the perspective of this is more a sign of a resurgence in boxing interest than a hail mary for dazn, just the fact young guys like this are interested and doing it anyway.
Also it might not be your existing yearly subscription is paying for this, just as likely this would be subsidizing your yearly subscription.
im not paying dazn to see some youtube scrubs fight each other wtf
Except, they ain't targeting you. The 12 year old kids that follow them though will almost certainly convince their parents to give them $20 for the fight.
DAZN wins because a million kids and their parents suddenly know about it and it remains a recognised brand to them forever as it enters the public consciousness from all the hype that's coming.
A bit desperate from DAZN to drive up SUBS but I think it is a Genius move by DAZN and Eddie Hearn business wise because sadly this fight will draw more new Subscribers and Views than Canelo because both fighters are so popular on youtube
Yeah, it smacks of desperation. That concerns me because I love DAZN as a platform to watch fights. HBO is gone and Showtimes output is diminished. I want PBC, DAZN and ESPN to all do well so I have more options to watch.
It may be brilliant, and I'm curious how many subscriptions they can maintain from the surge for this fight after the month is done (either from genuine interest or people who forget to cancel). We'll see...
