He'll be ok as long as he stays away from Wilder, Fury & Dubois

This fight is kinda intriguing if only because Spong is well know in the fighting world as an elite kickboxer. He has done nothing as a pro so far and has fought weak opposition.

Usyk was supposed to fight Takam and then I've heard Jennings as a potential opponent. Both are far more proven than Spong but there was nothing to get excited about either. Both are heavyweight gatekeepers now and lacking the punching power to make up for the skills difference. Usyk would have been a big favorite over them as well.

Little more kind to both fighters, but, yeah, CW is not HW, let him prove something at HW. Right now Spong is more proven at HW.

Usyk can be a great CW and a bad HW. It's something that might happen.

Spong was actually a damn fine kickboxer, he's really rugged and can take a hell of a beating. That said, I'm pretty sure he's just making money and doesn't really try to shake up the sport or do that well in boxing. In KB I'd say around 2010 was his best years. I know if you're just looking at records that's rough era for him 'cause he's picking up losses, but, before then he was fighting bums and after he was fighting old men. Bonjasky in his prime would knee Spong from across the ring. Saki, Le Banner, Sefo, Overeem, all excellent opponents and Spong always had a good showing.

To be honest, I'm still disappointed he's a half ass boxer now rather than an upper tier kickboxer. Rico Verhoeven could do with an opponent like Spong. Usyk could replace Spong with a number of guys. In kickboxing he'd still be something. In boxing he's totally replaceable. Boxing must make just a ton more money.
At least, with you and I, we had our disagreements/tiff and moved on. These other idiots, especially the 3 African Rs - they're just utter useless scumbags and nuisance who basically just violate people unprovoked with the most disrespectful nonsense because the internet provides cover for weirdos like them. And they're also hateful/jealous nutters, cut from the same cloth as the psychopaths of the same race who're burning/maiming one another in South Africa right now. I don't fu..ck with people like them, hence I put them on ignore. But they'd rather stalk you everywhere than fu..ck off.

That said, back to boxing. I don't get the hype about Usyk. Yes, he was a good fighter in the CW division. However, what has he done in the heavyweight division to deserve all the noise? The same idiots who spam Usyk everywhere don't even give boxers who made the heavyweight division what it's and have earned their stripes the credit they deserve - yet they stay hyping up a guy who's done fu..ck all in the division. And if he's that great - why's he fighting a kick boxer and not a real live body that will determine the level he's in the division?

A lot of these clowns aren't boxing fans - they're basically just groupies for whatever boxer is deemed as the coolest one to hype as the next great thing. And it's not like Usyk knocked everyone one in the CW division and dominated them - his fight against Hunter was very close until the late rounds. Ditto the Mchunu fight before the KO. And the Briedis fight could've gone either way in a different country that gives preferential treatment to home fighters. Also, if we're being honest - the CW division has historically never been a live division. People are just caught up in the hype of the recent wave of Eastern European boxers and they tend to overrate some of these guys.

I just want the guy to earn it. Don't give it to him on a platter. And you're not earning shi..tt by fighting a kick boxer. Fury is on his bum beating tour and now this guy - yet these idiots don't have a problem with it. But they're always quick to label the ones doing all the heavy lifting as not being good enough, when they're not twisting facts. Stop it.

I been hearing Usyk vs Takam for months only to get this?
Turns out Takam was too dangerous an opponent for Usyk so Usyk got "injured" then replaced Takam for Spong...

As a former undefeated, undisputed CW champion, Usyk would be literally entitled to go straight into a HW title fight, as per the WBO rules.

              Are you 5?

I specifically called him "entitled" because he chose to fight a bum who isn't a boxer - to get himself ready for his title shot, when he could've fought a live body. And yes, he's going straight into a title shot with the bum he's fighting now because he's already the WBO mandatory, you numbnut.

              Piss off, you muppet.
Mate, you're talking like an idiot again. Usyk is fighting Spong - who is definitely a boxer now, btw - to get acclimatized to HW.

Keep it in perspective. Holyfield's first HW opponent after moving up was James Tillis. Tilliis was a former world title challenger, but badly faded and with double digit losses, including multiple KO defeats, by the time he fought Holyfield.

Piss off, Eastern European muppet. You're a shi..tthead with dumb takes when it comes to boxing. Go wipe ya bum.

Spong is a kick boxer and Usyk hasn't done shi..tt to deserve a shot at 3 belts. They need to dump the WBO belt in the bin if they don't allow the undisputed and let Usyk and the bum-beating gypsy idiot fight for the belt.

                Usyk has done fu..ck all.

Useless fight. Usyk won`t be ready for a title shot after that.

So beating Kevin Johnson and Nathan Gorman puts Dubois on the same level as Fury and Wilder?

DD is a great prospect, but try and keep it real!

Maybe this will help. Less than a year ago, DD beat Kevin Johnson on points over 10 rounds, and never looked close to stopping him.

Three years before that, AJ steamrollered and KO'd a fresher, better version of Johnson in 2 very one-sided rounds.

Like I said, DD is good, but he's got a long way to go yet.

Imagine if Spong sparks Usyk??? That would be terrible for boxing.
