Fury went the WBO route, that’s why him and Hennessy started working with Warren.

And AJ was going the WBC route, fought for and defended their international title and was ranked #1 or #2 I think. He never really targeted the IBF, it just so happened that arguably the weakest HW champion in history became IBF champion, so it was an opportunity that couldn’t be missed.

I was trying to be quick with the post and it still went a while before the point was well formed.

The WBC basically own the UK. Everyone from the UK picks up WBC titles in the form of BBBofC titles. It's just too much for one post and not that important to the point to cover all the details.

The last round of upcomers were definitely more inclined to fight under one banner at a time. Fury went so deep into the WBO you didn't even mention him starting as a WBC fighter, and that's on Fury not you. He dropped everything he earned in the WBC because he didn't want WBC mandates while getting WBO mandates. Kinda the same for Josh. He dropped his WBC titles at the offer of a Takam IBF elim not when Martin offered to skip the elim and make Josh his vol. By then the WBC titles were already vacated.

i'm sure a whole bunch of other **** happened but I'd need boxrec to remember and I don't think it's that important. Joyce's multi-directional path means all roads lead to Joyce....eventually, which is cool and something the last generation if we can call them that didn't really care to do.
