Lara had promised to take Canelo to the Cuban school of boxing but ended up ditching class instead. In the biggest fight of his professional career he reverted to skittish amateur who looked like a deer caught in the headlights. Lara was never the professor he claimed to be, his inside game is underdeveloped to the extent that he hamstrung himself against Canelo by avoiding exchanging inside at all costs, even if it meant refusing to engage for long stretches, conceding exchanges and overall giving a highly negative performance that resembled anti-boxing rather than the sweet science.

Wow you are actually capable to make sense once in a while, I agree with you on this one, I had Lara winning the first 3 rounds clearly, but in the third round when Canelo connected his first punch to the body he completely disappeared the rest of the fight hardly throwing any punches and was in total survival mode making it difficult for him and for Canelo to be a clear winner.

Paulie lost to Miguel Cotto then years later fought his bum brother Jose. Beating bum brothers or cousins of great fighters don't mean shyt or guarantee you anything. lol Lara had his shot and shyt the bed with a coward performance. Got booed all night and stunk up the joint to the point that anyone who paid for the fight didn't want to see it again making a rematch impossible to sell at the time. Now years later and with Canelo at 160 on to bigger and better things and Lara diminished and on the wrong side of the network street the rematch is even less likely. Ramon Alvarez is a bum who was knocked out by a shot Brandon Rios it's a disgrace Lara even fought a guy the caliber of Ramon in the first place let alone thinking that beating him means you get Canelo.
