Every top fighter is protected. Who is making huge fights? Fighting worthy challengers? They pick and choose based on who gives them the best return for the least risk. That's what Ruiz was for Joshua - picks do go wrong, just as Ortiz could have for Wilder.

I can't believe anyone argues that Wilder hasn't been protected. That's his promoter's job. The big difference between him and others is that he's protected by the WBC too!

But the most protected right now is Fury. He's so protected that you don't even really think about it. He's maintaining status, maybe even building status, without fighting anyone who can even threaten him. Isn't that the the definition of protected?

Fu..ck out of here, AJ hasn't been protected from anyone. And that's the reason why Hearn the scumbag picked Ruiz because he keeps making the guy carry the whole sport on his shoulder, without giving him a breather and it backfired.

Yes he fought Ortiz and Fury .

1.He fought Ortiz knowing he was older then he said and not passing his medical prior to the fight showed you why Wilder took that fight,his team don't take big fights unless theres an angle.

2. He took the fury fight for obvious reasons. He hyped the lineal lable up thinking Fury would lose bc he lost 100 pounds and was told by Finkel Fury wasn't ready.

3. Beyond the two above , when did you ever see a manager take the mic of his fighter and call him a baby not ready for another title holder ?


4. Wilder opponents have also been given short notice ,some have even got magically put in the top10 before fighting him.


5. a price of 100 milion could not get team Wilder to commit to a undisputed fight,you will never see that again either. lol


Wilder is over 40 fights now, if this guy hasn't proven its him yet nothing will and taking a 49 yr old Ortiz rematch ,he better hope he wins or hes going to look foolish declining team Joshua offers.He lucked out against Fury ,he lucked out in the first Ortiz fight too.

Its simple.

Wilder basically jumped into boxing at a late age, went to the olympics, and now is Top 3 Heavyweight.
With no real boxing skills.

He a underdog. People always bring up his bad boxing skills but thats why he deserves respect. He got this far with those same bad boxing skills.

So its like how long are dudes gonna talk shyt about his bad boxing skills when he continue to accomplish so much in this sport surrounded by guys who start boxing when the came out the womb

Wilder does have bad boxing skills but he also has a sturdy chin, a decent long jab, good stamina, and ATG power that carries late. If you take all of that and put it in a division like HW where guys tend to not move as much as smaller divisions and tire sooner it makes Wilder a threat. Yes this era isn't that great but Wilders power, chin, and athelticism makes him somewhat competitive in any era. He could lose the whole fight but he is literally one punch from winning at any moment. Vulnerable? Yes but that also means exciting fights because of that vulnerability.

I thought he lost to Fury but Fury is another anomally. Hes a big guy with a slick skill set and while he goes down when hit his ability to recuperate is amazing. I wish the era was stronger but I could see either or competing with previous eras because of the attributes they have.
