McGirt doesn't get enough credit as a trainer. What he is doing with Kovalev is working and Kovalev trusts him. Kovalev has been at odds with two trainers, Sanchez and Jackson. Buddy is winning the psychological battle with Kovalev. Without Kovalev believing in him the rest doesn't matter.

Alvarez by body shot KO in round 9.
LOL whut, Canelo is gonna have that jab CONSTANTLY in his face or are you forgetting the height and reach difference? How is Canelo gonna hit the body when he is eating jab's and straights ?

Some fighters don't understand how Floyd was trained from the crib, by 2 top level fighters/trainers! That's hard to mimic, without the same level of training!

And the cw fights have basically all been of benefit to his opponent because he didn't drag them up to full 160 like ggg does.

& him having a next day weigh in so what, thats the same thing as IBF rules,& the other fighters are free to gain as much afterwards anyways,& Jacobs blew it off anyways which meant again nelo was at a disadvantage vs a much bigger prime fighter who still did nothing. Would you rather he fought cotto at full 160 against his wishes? How about Con,or Mayweather at 154 against Mayweathers stipulation when he intentionally weight drained nelo? Fact is Canelo has accommodated his opponents by fighting all the named fighters around his weight at catchweights they were comfortable with & it was 1 lb removed from 154 anyways.

You say rehydration clauses as if he benefitted the 1 time he imposed the same clause as Jacobs had been doing in several recent fights as ibf champ, knowing Jacobs was at a huge advantage and in his prime all because he blew it off nelo didn't,& nelo has been accused of being a cruiserweight bully yet now when convenient its cheating for "giant nelo" to not rehydrate?
Salvador Sanchez, Wilfred Benitez, Duran, Tyson, probably a few more, quite a few more.

You can bet Canelo will have at least a rehydration clause which is BS. He knows Kovalev has declined, and is vulnerable to body shots.
All that said still a tough fight for him.

After this, hopefully Canelo will fight Andrade or Charlo.

Come on no fighter forces a catchweight against a credible opponent to benefit the the other guy.

I used to think Canelo moved like there was two inches of snow on the ground. He also seemed to have to pull back and reset after each combo. But I think Canelo is a fighter that seems to be consistently improving. Kovalevs jab will have to be the story if he wants to win. Kovalevs body language isn’t great, which can only make winning a decision harder as if he needs that. I’d be very impressed if there’s enough punches in this fight for either to stop the other.
