A somewhat intelligent person would probably guess the 8 original divisions are left.

But since you're pretty ******, I suggest googling it.

Wow. North American’s will have to travel down to Argentina. People from Australasia will have to travel to China and South African’s will have to travel all the way up to Senegal.
I guess only 1 fighter per country per division makes this geo strategic move reasonable.

Beware when travelling to Argentina, ensure you don’t have to pay ‘reciprocity fee’ BEFORE you travel.
When i went to 2016 Rio olympics, i went to Argentina first and almost missed the flight because you have to pay the reciprocity BEFORE you get on plane/arrive in their country.

I think they changed the rules this year for US citizens but if your going - check this as i’d hate for you to miss out on the qualifying tourney by thinking you can pay it when you arrive (like I did).

Why does that suck? If anything it's a good thing and I wish pro ranks would follow suit. There needs to be less weight divisions and less belts so everyone fights each other rather than being content with being 1 of 4 champs in 1 of 16 weight classes. Too diluted.

If it's the original 8, that is a very good thing. Hopefully, it will make for better quality fights too, less quantity more quality

If they killed pro divisions I'd be fine with it. I think you want amateur divisions more spread out since a lot of the participants are kids still or young adults & I want as lil disparity in weight as possible with kids.

Definitely crazy there are only 8 divisions now in the amateurs & 17 still in the pros.

Was there an old school 8 for amateur? I thought they had 7 divisions back in the day. Either way I hate them killing mens divisions where there is already competition to add womens divisions where there is no competition.

Okay I can see your logic, but I imagine they'll find their place and have adequate time or have had adequate time to prepare. I doubt this was a hasty or surprise decision, but I don't follow amateurs too closely.

                    Feather (57 kg/125 lb)

                    Light (60 kg/132 lb)

Girls gonna be losing their first fight & getting a bronze medal in one or two of these divisions lol. Last time women only needed to win 2 fights to medal. Men had to win 4 in most divisions & at least 3 fights. Now we got 2 less mens divisions & 2 more women divisions so its only gonna get harder for men & easier for women. Gonna be more female Loma's & Zou Shiming's in the future than male versions of those guys.
