In theory this fight was supposed to be for Lemeiux should he have beaten Ryder, and I was really looking forward to it too, but David got injury and one of Canelo’s sparring partners, Bilal Akkawy, was the late replacement. Ryder showed Bilal that experience matters...

So at least Ryder’s opportunity is justified in imo, he played the part to earn it and now we’ve got this. I don’t see Ryder beating Smith doe.

        I’d rather see a Fielding-Ryder rematch😂

These organizations need to be destroyed.
Yep they’re all corrupt but the WBA is by far the worst IMO.

I think we all know what’s going on here...

Easy win for Smith. How did Ryder become the mandatory?

              Ryder is decent.

I like watching him. He’s got a pleasing style.

Smith is just a gargantuan super middle though with solid fundamentals. I personally don’t find him must watch but outside maybe Benavidez I wouldn’t really bet against him at that weight

That's true but Matchroom has one fight left with Smith. I'm surprised they didn't make this fight before.

Jesus, that was a ****ing year ago! Why the hell didn't Smith just get this out of the way instead of fighting N'Dam??

TBF most people thought Ryder deserved the nod over Fielding - in fact I wasn't alone in pointing that out when some folk suggested Rocky's height might cause Canelo some problems - the Ryder fight demonstrated that Rocky was very vulnerable to a shorter guy closing the distance.
