Erislandy Lara was somewhat surprised Canelo Alvarez didn't move forward with a third fight against Gennadiy Golovkin. The former 154-pound champion was even more surprised when Alvarez began pursuing a showdown with WBO light heavyweight champ Sergey Kovalev. If the Alvarez-Kovalev fight is finalized for November 2, Lara isn't sure that task will be as easy for Alvarez as odds-makers and some fans seem to think.

Kovalev has the right trainer to give him a chance but he's older and it shows. As I see it, Kovalev's problem is that his inside fight game is nonexistent and Canelo has the head movement to get inside at will. Callum Smith, Caleb Plant, David Benavidez, Billy Joe Saunders and every other belt holder at 175lber beat Canelo & most by KO.

BTW, yes, you read that right. Billy Joe Saunders style is all wrong for Canelo and he beats Canelo fairly easy at any weight.

Make no mistake about it, this fight is about superior match making.

Lara is one of the few fighters with a style to give anyone problems, anyone. If you can't slow him down or think you can just counter punch your way to a victory you're screwed. As a mater of record, Canelo's handlers never wanted Lara and they have no intention of giving Lara a 2nd chance.

It's a fight that sounds silly at first but the more I think about it the more I want to see Kov vs The Ginger Gringo.
I think Krusher has maybe one more good showing left in him but Canelo might wait until he really looks old and barely hangs on to his belt again before getting in there with Krush.
