I think he is being groomed for an eventual tick-over fight for Whyte/Usyk/AJ (pending Dec7 results). I don’t see Hughie having a 50% chance in any of those matchups. What if Povetkin turns back the clock and pulls it off? He has to know his boxing mileage is running low. I don’t think either current champion (Wilder/Ruiz) would consider Povetkin as a draw, and will grant him a mega payday (especially Wilder). Maybe Tyson would throw him a bone and defend his imaginary belt, but if not now then why later. I think Povetkin is through, if not in reality then in spirit. With that being said I got Povetkin by TKO9 and both fighters will continue to wander the HW landscape aimlessly
Disagree entirely with the point your making here. Every fight can't be world number 1 vs world number 2 or 3. The point of this fight is can Hughie show he can beat a still very good Povetkin. If he can, it raises his rep massively, despite what you think.

And from Povetkin's side, can he do a better job than Parker (who I thought Hughie beat) or Pulev (still a top contender) and could he even KO Hughie.

Plus, stylistically, it's an interesting match-up. Well worth a watch.

Fury has been poorly matched too early in his career. Kinda like Yarde. Tyson should be fighting the guys Hugie fought and Hugie should be the one fighting bums.

By the 10th round, the ref will be pulling a raging Povetkin off of the bloody stump that used to be Hughie's face.

My commentary is brutal. I agree, it's a watchable fight. Hughie is giving it his best, and in this case, I need to enjoy the matchup.

It's the undercard fight to Loma vs Campbell.

Yeah, I'm happy with that. Sure, Hughie vs Povetkin is not a PPV fight headliner, but as B-side it's good. Campbell isn't a first choice opponent for Loma, but he's up there and deserves a shot, pushed Linares very close, and Linares and Loma put on a great fight.

Povetkin of a few years ago i give no chance to Hughie but Sasha is 40 now & Hughie is 24 so I give him a legit shot of winning this fight if he can avoid the big shot. Povetkin hasn’t look great since coming back from the suspension. He needed 12 rounds to beat Hammer & Rudenko. He got stopped by AJ. He is vulnerable for sure but still going to be a handful for Fury. This is Hughie’s 3rd step up fight will he be able to finally get above fringe contender level?

Povetkin is a shade of the past self and showed that AJ. If he loses to the weaker of the furys, he could well retire.
