Comments Thread For: Kovalev: I Didn't Expect Easy Fight, I'm Surprised I Stopped Yarde

Sergey Kovalev feels ready for a mega-bout with Mexican superstar Canelo Alvarez. On Saturday night in Russia, Kovalev knocked out undefeated Anthony Yarde to retain the WBO light heavyweight title in his first defense since winning back the belt in February

Fight Canelo Next and get that payday ... win or lose.... then retire..... unless it’s ends in controversy and it calls for a rematch ... otherwise Retire for sure...nothing left to prove ...

Sergay Kovalev's performance was appalling, simply awful. A bum like Anthony Yarde should never go past five rounds with any top five Light-heavyweight.

Hang them up Sergay, its over for you.

I want to see him fight Canelo next at 175.

If he can stay focused - he'll beat Canelo unless there's a controversy.

But I see Kovalev and Canelo fighting twice tbh.

I always liked watching Kovalev fight, but my inkling is that he will get knocked out by Alvarez. If Yarde almost did it with body shots, I can't see how Canelo can't.

Yarde has the potential to go the distance with any of the current LHW champs.

He was totally outclassed by Kovalev skill wise, winning only 2-3 rounds of the 11, but he showed a great chin and plenty of heart.

Yes Yarde basically showed Canelo how to win. Canelo won't gas, has an iron chin and can box and Kov is looking old. Easy win for Canelo. It's just about money for Kov and then he'll retire when he loses

Yarde hits harder than Canelo and has greater reach.

Canelo was eating jabs from GGG all night. How do you think he will react to Kovalev’s jabs, who are stronger and come from a greater distance making it even harder to close the gap?

Canelo doesn't have the power unless he changes for a more drastic PED.

If there is no re-hydration clause I see Kovalev hitting the little guy and putting him to sleep.

But we all know Canelo will keep on Roiding.

How do you think Kovi will react to the vicious body attack from Canelo
Last night , thinking it was round 3 when Yarde actually dug twice to the body and that had Kovi wincing and pulling at his shorts
I didn’t see him throwing those jabs after that as his main concern was to protect the body
Kovi is quite slow and would have to hit Canelo who moves his head pretty damn well
And for his reach , Canelo will bully his way in
