If fight was in another location with a neutral ref, would he have stopped it?

They most likely would have yeah.

I wouldn't call British refs neutral they are a bit over eager to stop fights but sometimes better to err on the safe side though can be disappointing when it's obviously unnecessary.

A British ref in Britain and Yarde at home while Kovalev foreign fighter, hell yes they would have stopped it!

I think they actually wouldn't. He wasn't down, he was fighting back, it was a big fight I don't think they are always trigger happy as people claim (except may be in Calzaghe's case).

If it was in the USA, with Andre Ward as the opponent and Tony Weeks as the ref, it would definitely have been stopped.

Nah some of you guys are overreacting. Kovalev literally won 7 previous rounds before then, if he was losing those round then they would probably think he needs saving. But because he was winning those rounds I doubt anyone would stop it.

If Jeff horn wasn't fighting at home would he of been stopped vs pacquaio. I thought they were a few times yarde could have been stopped before he got knocked down. It's refs discretion. If there's of been a few more clean heavy blows landed I think a referee would of been in there right mind to say kovalev was no longer intelligently defending himself and taking punishment

They wouldn't have stopped it at that point in a world championship bout but if it was a lower level non-title fight they might do.

Maybe Tony Weeks. Not Steve Smoger.

Ultimately, Horn was throwing back. A good ref gives them a chance if they're at least trying to attack back.

With Kov/Yarde, we're not talking a Thurman/Lopez situation where Lopez was teeing off on Keef at will. I don't think even a Brit ref would have stopped it. Unless that was Joshua in there.
