To here you tell it why even bother to have the fight. Just declare Canelo the winner by body punch KO in the early rounds and move on to the next Canelo victory. In his whole career Kovalev has never been floored by a body punch by any light heavyweight so he is not as vulnerable as you make him out to be. I'll bet Kovalev has a battle plan that includes hitting Canelo in the face often with long stiff jabs and very hard straight rights and left hooks. It might be a much harder fight for Canelo than you think. He might get outpointed or knocked out. Let's wait and see before declaring Canelo a sure thing winner by body punch KO.

With Canelo i've always praised his skillset as a fighter but his power has always been overrated at 154 and 160. Also, with his lack of height and reach I think he will struggle to get inside on Kovalev.
I don’t think the weight or height would be a factor here, I see Canelo going to the body early, using his superior speed against the taller and aging Kovalev. Am a big Kovalev fan so am hoping he gets that payday, but I would be watching this would one eye closed. If Canelo doesn’t destroy this version of Kovalev I would be totally shocked. It’s glaring how far Kovalev has fallen. He used his experience today but someone like Yarde would never have been able to even touch Kovalev in his prime.

If Canelo wins so certainly and so easily shouldn't we be calling this a cherry pick by Canelo and ask him to fight one of the three young prime unbeaten light heavyweight champs instead?

Its a tough fight if there is no CW, a CW will kill Kov he only just makes LHW now, I hope there no weight BS and then its a real achievement for Canelo if he can pull it off at 175 no rehydration clause, I dont want to see a CW in this.

Kirkland was a 155 pound boxer while Kovalev is a 175 pound champion with a jab and right hand power Canelo has never experienced. This isn't some Kirkland type beatdown. Canelo has a very dangerous fight. Kovalev has never gone down from a body punch in a long career of fighting the best 175 pound fighters. He isn't going to crumple every time Canelo hits his body like Fielding.
Doesn’t matter if Kovalev is 1000 times the fight that Kirkland ever is or was, he would receive the same amount of beating in my humble opinion. People need to sit down sometime and understand the difference when analysis how a fight would go, take their emotions out of it.

Someone once told me Luis Castillo was ten times the fighter Dennis pederson was when I picked Hatton to stop him, they do that “He is a two time blah blah blah” champion.... ok, but Hatton isn’t fighting a prime Castillo doe.

If Canelo doesn’t not put a beating on Kovalev, I would be extremely shocked. There is a reason Team Canelo wanted this fight, they waited for this fight. And watching this Yarde fight tonight confirms it for me. I pray he gets a good payday Canelo.

That’s the thing, Kovalev would be there for the takings against Canelo, I give him a zero chance. He would never win it on decision. He would need to stop Canelo, he gasses quite early now, he just can’t take any body shots now. He would have a speed disadvantage against Canelo. I just don’t see him doing anything with Canelo.

Call it whatever you want. You’ll still be hyping up Kov as the guy to beat Canelo. Your hate for Canelo will blind you.
This a resume fight. He’ll have won world titles from 147-175.
He’s already the man at 160. Lineal champ with GGG 0 and legacy on his mantle.
