slightly past prime. Still at 75%. Only Canelo can beat him at this point.

I agree 100%.. Kovalev is contending at the highest level of his division and was impressive vs Yarde. I'm a huge Canelo fan, but I don't think this match up would be a walk in the park for Canelo.

Kov is using his experience now. He is boxing more and putting his punches together. Not everything he throws has KO writtent all over it. He touches his opponents and is more measure with his accuracy.

He is not at his peak but has adjusted well. Him surviving the 8 says a lot about him at this stage of his career.

So...the question is, what is meant by "Kovalev is shot" ?
If you mean, "past his prime" or "faded or fading", then I guess you could say "shot".
He's not so far past his prime that he can't compete. Does "being shot" mean you should retire, immediately ? Kovalev is 36 and still tough as nails to have that stamina in the 11th round. He's still a beast. He may have lost a step, but he hasn't lost his grit or beast mentality. His gas tank might be getting low, but he certainly is not running on empty.
I think "being shot" means you can't win anymore against quality competition. Saying that about Kov... is premature.

If he fights Canelo next, do you really think he will get knocked out ? If his next fight is with Canelo, I see it as a 50/50 fight. And I got 10K points that say Canelo doesn't knock him out.
