Seems like Kovalev is always vulnerable and got kind of weird body language when fatiqued. He is still good boxer but as someone else said in the thread, his power is not what it used to be.
Maybe it is because he choose to not sit on the punches, to box more. Beautiful jab and combos but need to be careful and responsible for 12 rounds.
I think that Yarde looked confident... good maybe, but he did nothing most of the rounds. Maybe that was the plan, just to absorb punches and wait for Kovalev to fatique. He almost got him but I think if he worked in the early rounds more, even to the body, he would be too fatiqued even to try finish Kovalev like he tried in 8th.
The scare was more the result of Kovalev's weaknesses than Yarde's qualities I think.

Yarde was gassed midway and punched himself out completely after hurting Kovalev ****** for not sparring during the preparation for a championship fight that's what cost him in the end if he had better conditioning he probably could've stopped Sergey if he continued his body attack but he was slow and tired and got jabbed up all night Kovalev couldn't miss I only gave Yarde rounds 7 and 8 other than that he looked like **** and I have no idea why they were saying he started out fast he was slow the entire fight throwing nothing but looping shots.

imo what really killed yarde was completely ignoring the body after having kovalev hurt and backing up I think was the 7th or 8th with body shots.... I even said it if he keeps up the pressure with the body shots hell have a go at it..... idk why he all of a sudden stopped.

Idk why he didn't start sooner. I had this fight over on paper before Yarde made any serious consistent body attack. I dig Tunde unlike a lot of mfers here but maybe he SHOULD be watching tape of Yarde's opponents if he didn't know the body was key in this fight. The blueprint to Kovalev is some King Hippo sh^t as f#cking nutty as that sounds.

Canelo will show wuts up in a couple months. Canelo by KO via the body. Or McGirt might actually have to stop it next time.

It took a lot of heart by both fighters. They need to work on Yarde's stamina among other things. It's something when someone else has a worst stamina than Kovalev.

All the other champs at LH beat Kov now though. Would fancy Beterbiev to stop him.

I think Gvozdyk and Bivol would have a good chance at beating Kovalev. Beterbiev would be very dangerous for Kov too. Kovalev might not even be in the top 4 at LHW. He does look kinda shot....He was gassed in the third or 4rth round. His saving grace is that he is just a much better technical fighter than Yarde.

Sorry Kush but he is at least partially correct. I am a Kovalev fan and attended a few of his fights but he is well past his prime. Buddy is an excellent trainer and Sergey has gutted out the last few wins but Canelo takes a great shot and is an excellent body puncher. What makes it intriguing is the step up in weight. If I was Kovalev I would retire if he loses to Canelo! If he wins then a try at unifification would obviously be the next step!

I was watching the fight on my cell phone. And the round Kovalev got seriously hurt, I heard McGirt say in the corner, I am stopping the fight if you take anymore shots like that. Give Kovalev credit, he came out in the next round and stepped it up and eventually stopped the younger man. And he took those body shots in the middle rounds too. Give credit where it is due. And I was listening to Ward and Bradley and they said Yarde’s training does not include sparring. That’s really strange.
