Well it'd be a L to not get the Kovalev fight obviously, but a more assured to win vacant belt vs a guy you might even be favored to beat wouldn't be a bad 2nd place when getting paid fight purse money to step aside. Ultimately if he has a belt he's now a player in the division so I wouldn't put this in the same vein as some sorta superfight for Yarde like Tyson vs Lewis.

Kovalev is probably the biggest name at light heavyweight at the moment, in terms of active fighters. The opportunity to get his name on the record is something Yarde just doesn't want to miss. He turned down $1 Million step aside fee just so he could get in the ring with Kovalev specifically.
