Joshua did box tall . Ruiz worked the jab to the body nicely and was able to close the gap . Wonder if joshua has the stamina to get on the Bicycle if thats how to avoid ruiz . Thats almost what vitali had to do when he avenged his bro vs sanders . At times he literally Ran full speed
I don’t think AJ fights tall like say a Lennox did. I think Vitali fought tall to the point he mostly just leaned backwards to avoid most punches. But ur right, my brother described Vitali as retreating like he seen a ghost after sum of the punches Sanders landed. I just see AJ bending at the waist often and his big feet slow in retreat. I’m not sure if it’s stamina but I don’t see AJ ever being as allusive going backwards as Vitali was. Vitali did run at sum points but he’d end up making a stand.

... True: Vitali fought tall and he was retreating under pressure... but he never ducked with head low while leaning forward -- as AJ did...
I wish people would realise that Ruiz and Parker are different fighters. Just because it worked against Parker, and let's be honest about how big a part the paid off referee played in that performance, it doesn't mean it will work against Ruiz.
"A-Side" just whooped "No Soul" and he will do it again, it doesn't matter what "No Soul" does, "A-side" has his number.
I think what Peter meant to say if Joshua is fully on his roid cycle he can topple Ruiz
That's probably what it took for Wilder to wash Breazealle.
Gained 11lb of lean muscle in the 5 months from the Fury fight naturally? Seems unlikely at the age of 34 and for someone who's alread supposed to be peak already.
I have no hope for a rematch because joshua and his team either dont really know why he lost or wont admit it. everything they have attributed to his loss have been so off. its quite simple why he loss but they wont admit it. maybe that is their strategy or they are clueless or they are arrogant. Joshua has 2 big issues. his stamina isnt 12 round level and his chin is questionable. Both were put to the test vs ruiz. Joshua was doing well until he knocked down ruiz. That knockdown was a blessing for ruiz because it made joshua go in for the kill which exposed two of his weaknesses. He closed the distance himself trying to finish off ruiz which allowed ruiz to unload punches and get to joshuas weak chin and ability to take a barrage of heavyweight punches. Also him trying to finish ruiz off and also in survival mode himself expended alot of energy early on which had him sucking wind by the 3rd 4th rounds. if he stayed boxing and keeping ruiz at the end of his punches he would have an easier time. he has to stay patient even if he hurts ruiz. force ruiz to take chances trying to get inside. its similar to wladimeir getting knocked out. where his weaknesses were his chin and his lack of inside fighting. he learned how to work the jab more and keep guys at bay setting up the right hand and left hook. then he was dominant for a decade.

AJ doesn’t jab anywhere near the quality of Vitali, Wlad or Lennox. For a guy of similar stature that’s the key. I’ve never believed AJ has used his height and reach properly and don’t see him being able to correct this before the rematch.
I think stamina comes into it, but a lack of fundamentals seems to be more of a problem - possibly a consequence of coming to boxing fairly late and rising quickly to the top.

Wilder used to fight in the mid to high 220s. 226lbs against Chris Areola and 228 pounds against Arthur Szpilka, both in 2016. Then he gradaully lost 10lbs until he was 213/214 for Ortiz and Fury. A 10lb wight gain on a guy that is 6 foot 7 to a weight he previously fought at is not eye brow raising.
