Right. Shorter Povetkin was able to get to AJ a bit, even stagger him. I remember AJ shrinking down to his level at first. He did adjust and get into a rhythm to stop Sasha eventually. I expected Ruiz to get to AJ early, but I also thought AJ would adapt at sum point. I think even if AJ fans consoles themselves and say it was one “lucky” punch, they should be worried about that. Cause anyone can land one lucky punch.

I think u nailed it. I don’t know if he ever excelled at other sports at one point. He’s a big strong guy and has learned enough to get this far, but he’s surely not a natural. I’m a rugby guy, and I read he doesn’t even know the positions of Rugby or ever played. How did this not happen with a giant chiseled guy in UK? I don’t even know if he’s an “Athlete”? Can he run? Can he catch? Can he dunk? Everyone calls him a bodybuilder but how much are weights a part of his life? I’m just curious of these things. I’m not slagging him, he’s done well as a fighter. I just don’t know what to make of him.AJ doesn’t jab anywhere near the quality of Vitali, Wlad or Lennox. For a guy of similar stature that’s the key. I’ve never believed AJ has used his height and reach properly and don’t see him being able to correct this before the rematch.
I think stamina comes into it, but a lack of fundamentals seems to be more of a problem - possibly a consequence of coming to boxing fairly late and rising quickly to the top.Comment
