Unbeaten power punchers get overrated more so than any other type of fighter, but even allowing for that the odds are surprising.

The whole fight feels weird to me. Until about a week ago I still thought it might get cancelled and Kov skip straight to Canelo. And Yarde's training style is odd enough to seem like an April Fools. Feels like the kind of fight where someone is gonna parachute into the ring or something crazy like that.

I don't get why Rolls did not have a puncher's chance against GGG
GGG was a much heavier favorite against Rolls, and both Rolls and Yarde are nonames with no resume.

There should be more value on Yarde here but I think more people see Kovalev as a shadow of who he once was and yea there probably is some value being lost with Yarde off of his hyped up looking KO ratio as someone suggested.

I still see enough value on this one where it's 67/33 Kovalev's way when I feel like it should be 50/50 or even 55/45 Yarde to bet it.

My biggest concern with Yarde is he could have a bs chin cuz he's not really been chin checked and Kovalev can definitely chin check mfers still. That said I know Kovalev is weak to the body and Yarde punches well to the body and I tend to think that decides the fight as long as Yarde's chin isnt bs and he can close the gap. The latter for sure happens as long as Yarde can hang.

I still need to check into the under on this fight cuz I think that might be my hedge if there is value there cuz I don't expect this one to go too deep. Either Yarde's chin is trash and he gets taken to the curb for garbage day or Kovalev crumbles to body shots or body shots open up his head to get KO'd. If this goes past 9 I'll be surprised and I tend to lean a couple rounds lower than that being the end of this fight.

No but in all seriousness, I honestly think 'some' people on Yarde's team are actually delusional and don't have his best interests at heart. Either way will the winner please unify? LHW is a joke, things finally happening now but it has taken so long. Want the winner to face Gvozdyk/Beterbiev winner.
light heavyweight currently is no joke. the reason for things taking so long is now out of the picture for good! clenelo is going after kovalev so there will be no unification with the winner of gvozdyk vs beterbiev next. if by some miracle yarde wins he will take the belt hostage and fight bums in the uk.

the fight was never in doubt as both guys signed the contracts to face each other. the weird think is clenelo coming out of nowhere with his kovalev obsession everybody forgot about the kovalev vs yarde match up and focused on kovalev vs clenelo.

              What am I missing here?
Probably because their is a lot of money going on Yarde. The odds are not a reflection of what the bookies think is going to happen. Common error by leman gamblers...the bookies main goal is to make money no matter the result...think about that

I think English betters are betting on Yarde due to wishful thinking and keeping the odds close. I don't know that for a fact. I am just guessing. I think Kovalev will beat him. Yarde has never beaten a guy ranked higher than boxrec 36th in the world. His trainer is weird and he did no sparring. The scoring will favor Kovalev if it goes the distance but I doubt it will. I haven't seen any of Yarde's fights but I am still betting money on Kovalev at these odds because he is well proven and Yarde is not.I have not placed a bet yet so I'll see if I can find some Yarde fights to watch first.

Looking like the under is -120 under 8.5. Gonna throw a nice amount on that & then ideally hit a nice score on a Yarde KO or break even if Kovalev takes out Yarde. If it goes too late into the 9th round imma be sad doe lol.

Are UK fans even big on Yarde? I dont see too much hype from very many UK fans over him & most that I see are predicting he loses.

And its not like they bet it down THAT much. It opened at -300 for Kovalev & now hes -200. So thats 75% to win, to 67% to win.

I think he can take body punches OK. It's Ward's accurate punches right on the balls he can't handle and who could? Kovalev has many KO wins over champions and top contenders while Yarde has no wins over anybody in the top 30 and he did no sparring so he should be the underdog. Kovalev is faster than Yarde who is too musclebound and looks like the hulk.
We shall soon see how good Yarde is or isn't.
